Shed Type & Roof Size
Waltons have gone with the classic apex design for this shed and it just gives it a very nice look. This is a shed that will certainly stand out in your garden due to its size and that nice apex roof. The apex roof at its highest point is a very impressive, 7 feet high! Offering you a good work space right in the heart of the shed. You have a very generous amount of height along the sides as well, you have 5 feet, 5 inches of space which we feel will be more than enough for most people. So as you can see you do have a fair bit of head room with this shed.
Once built and you take your first step inside, you are blown away as just how much space you have to play with in here. Inside you have 5 feet, 6 inches of width and an incredible 9 feet 6 inches of depth. The sheer size of this shed means that you can store just so much stuff in here and also do it in a tidy manor so that you do not just have stuff lying all over the place. There is more than enough room in here for everything to have its own little place which really is something we love about this shed. For you folks who take a real pride in how you store your items, you will have a great time organising all your gardening items, tools or whatever inside this shed.
We love a classic apex roof and as we said just up above at its highest point you have 7 feet of head room. So unless you are some kind of pro basketball player, you will have more than enough room to move around comfortably. Waltons have added some very nice mineral roofing felt which is just incredibly strong and will not only stop our horrible winters leaking inside, but also protect against rot! Perhaps the most impressive part of the roof though is what is under the mineral roofing felt and that is the 12 mm tongue and groove wood that has been used for the roof. This is a little unusual, but it just means that you have one of the most toughest sheds on your hands!
Cladding, Frame & Floor
You can tell from the photos that this is a nice looking shed, but boy is this one tough cookie! The cladding that Waltons have used here is their 12 mm thick, shiplap tongue and groove cladding. We love this stuff! We know this does put a couple of extra pounds on the price of a shed, but when you consider that this style of cladding allows water to run off it quicker than any other type of cladding, you realise that it is actually going to make your shed (and what you have inside) last a lot longer. And as well as being great at keeping out wet winters……. And wet summers at bay it looks pretty damn nice as well.
The frame that Waltons have used for their This 10 x 6 Waltons Windowless Groundsman Tongue and Groove Apex Garden Shed is 45 X 27 mm thick which is part of a triple threat to keep this shed strong, secure and make it last for years and years. The frame along with the shiplap tongue and groove cladding team up with the very strong, double framed corners which are used to give the shed just that little bit more power behind it. You certainly do not have to worry about the kids kicking a ball of this shed!
We love how instead of using their regular (but still more than capable) sheet board for the flooring. That Waltons have decided to use that same 12 mm thick tongue and groove wood that is used for the roof as the flooring for the shed. This makes the floor very strong and more than capable of storing many heavy items! Not even the gopher from the movie Caddyshack would be able to break in through the floor of this shed!
Treatment Requirement & Warranty
Look we always love how Waltons take so much pride in their sheds that they are willing to offer a ten year anti rot guarantee, but just be sure to treat the shed with the right kind of paint or your warranty is not valid! In our experience it is best to paint the shed sooner than later as once you put it off for a week a week can turn into a month a month into a year…….. and you get the idea.
Doors & Windows
This is a beast of a shed and a beast of a shed needs some good doors so that you do not have to play a real life version of Tetris when trying to get things into the shed! Thankfully, Waltons have put a double door on here that is 5 feet 8 inches high and 3 feet 4 inches wide, you could get a cow in here no problem….. not sure why you would want a cow in your shed, but hey it could be done!
This is a shed that has been designed to keep your things safe and as a result there is no window. This keeps people from seeing what cool stuff you have in there!
Security & Privacy
Hey what a person does in their shed is their own business and we get that. With that in mind this shed is built like Fort Knox! No window means that no one can look inside and think they fancy your awesome mower or peek at what kind of cool stuff you are building or perhaps see your plans for world domination!
To really give you that piece of mind the shed comes with its very own lock and key which is cool as most sheds require you to actually buy a lock and key or padlock.
Look we think that the 10 x 6 Waltons Windowless Groundsman Tongue and Groove Apex Garden Shed is a great shed in its own right, but there are a few “extras” that you can pay for if you want. They do offer an extra strength floor pack for an extra cost of £29.95, stronger roof felt for an additional, £34.95 and they will even build it for you (but where is the fun in that!) with their installation service. The extras to be honest are not really required on a shed that is already nice and strong!
Quality of construction 10/10 Longevity of material 8/10
Final Thoughts: If you want a nice big shed that will handle all your storage needs and keep the British weather at bay then this is a great shed for you. For you folks who love to potter around in your shed, you have a ton of space to do that inside here and that is the main type of person that we think this shed would suit.
