Shed Type And Roof Size
From the first look we were very impressed with how fantastic the 6′ x 5′ Suncast New Adlington Four Shed looked. It is a shed that really does just scream high quality to you and the closer you get to it the more you notice how attractive and well built this is. While this is a very aesthetically pleasing shed it also offers some very nice storage space inside of it. The width is 6 feet 8 inches and the depth is 5 feet 6 inches, giving you plenty of room to store many different things from a mower to a couple of bikes to a whole load of tools and gardening items. This is one of the tallest sheds that we have seen with the ridge height being 7 feet 4 inches. While that is a great amount of height right along the middle of the shed it was the height at the eaves that really surprised us as it is 5 feet 11 inches high. This kind of headroom at the eaves is very uncommon and it is one of the things that we like best about this shed. The height of it would make this a great little workshop as there is plenty of room inside to move around comfortably.
We really love the design of the roof that Suncast have put on here. It really does at first glance look like it’s made from some kind of slate, but actually it is made from high quality and durable, blow moulded panels. This is just amazing at keeping out the rain and the apex design keeps the water flowing right off it. The roof is metal reinforced to give it a bit more strength and help it last for many, many years.
Cladding, Frame And Floor
The walls of the shed really do give this a very workman’s shop type of design to it. The walls are made from blow moulded resin and these panels are double walled which makes them very strong and reliable. This is a shed where if the kids were playing football next to it, you really would not be worried if the ball hit it. This type of material makes the shed very easy to build, but it also gives it a modern and cool kind of look that you simply cannot get with wood. Also because of the way this all slots together, you will never have any rain finding its way inside.
As Suncast have gone with a double walled, blow moulded design the shed does not actually have a frame as the walls are what keeps it all together. Now we know this may sound like it could lead to trouble years down the line, but actually this is not the case at all. This type of material is designed to slot together so that it stands strong and firm and it will do so for many years. The first time you touch this we are sure you are going to be raising your eyebrows as you will be so impressed with how sturdy it feels. The lack of frame works well for those of you who like to make use of every square inch of space as you will be able to place items right up to the corners without a frame getting in your way.
The floor has been made so that it can take a lot of weight, you could actually put a ride on mower in here and the floor would not even budge an inch. The floor is made from the same material that the rest of the shed is and we feel this floor is going to serve you very well. Like the roof the floor has been reinforced to give it a bit more power behind it.
Treatment Requirement And Warranty
We have seen a rise in these plastic based sheds lately and part of that has to be the ease of maintaining them. No treatment is required here, you build the shed and then you make use of it and that is all there is to it. If you do want to keep it dirt free then this is as easy as using the garden hose or giving it a quick wipe down with a sponge and some water.
The ten year warranty that Suncast give you is great, but we feel this shed is going to last you easily double that.
Doors And Windows
The doors of the 6′ x 5′ Suncast New Adlington Four Shed are a huge part of what makes this such a great looking shed. We have two very large sized doors here that at, 5 feet 11 inches high and 4 feet 8 inches wide will see you be able to fit anything you want inside of here. The doors are done in a different colour from the rest of the shed and it makes them stand out very well. To ensure these doors last the life of the shed, Suncast have used very top of the line hinges to make them stay in their place. Each door has a very solid handle on it which can be locked with a padlock.
Both of the doors have a window on them. Suncast have used transom windows just above the door and we think they look fantastic. They do not open, but they do let in a lot of natural light. Do not worry about them not opening as the shed does have some fully functioning air vents to let in some fresh air.
Security And Privacy
This is one of the most secure plastic based shed we have ever seen and to make it even more secure we recommend adding a padlock to those two door handles. This is easy to do and if you plan on keeping something expensive like a good mower in here then you really will want to make sure you do this.
The two windows can allow person to peek inside, but the design of them would mean they would have to be pretty close to the shed to do so. In all unless you have the doors wide open then this is a very private shed.
Customisation Options And Extras
This type of shed does not allow for any customisation to the look of it, but on the inside with all the space you have, you really can work wonders and have fun laying things out just the way you want.
As far as extras go the only thing we recommend that you buy is a padlock, but as this can be done very cheaply we do not see it as a blemish on the shed at all.
This is one of the most high quality plastic based sheds we have seen and we honestly could not be any more impressed with the overall build quality of this shed.
Longevity Of materials 9/10
The blow moulded resin that is used throughout this shed is made to last. Suncast are so sure of this they give you a ten year guarantee. Not only will the shed last for lots of years, you do not have to do a lot when it comes to looking after it.
This is the type of shed where the storage size available is good, but to really get the most out of it, you are going to have to organise your things well.
Ease of installation 8.5/10
One of the things we love about plastic based sheds is how they are just so much easier to put together. It should take you and a friend no more than a few hours to build.
Look we know this is not the cheapest shed, but when you consider just how many years you are going to get out of it, plus the fact maintaining it requires next to no effort then it does then really start to show just what great value for money it is.
Final Thoughts: The 6' x 5' Suncast New Adlington Four Shed we feel is the type of shed you buy when you want some extra space to store things, but you also want to make sure that space is going to look good and actually be a feature of your garden. This is a very decent sized shed that is easy to look after and it is certainly going to be with you for a number of years. Suncast really are one of the very best when it comes to giving you a shed that is easy on the eyes, but also offers plenty of space to keep things safe.
