Shed Type, Roof Size
This pent roofed metal building is an ideal purchase for those who want to keep their motorbike, or even motorbikes, safe from the effects of wind, rain and snow. It’s the widest motorcycle garage that we’ve reviewed so we think that it could in effect become a double garage for motorbikes. We also found the subtly dark green finish attractive and it fits in well with a garden background. That’s just one of the reasons we can also imagine this being used as a garden storage shed or even a workshop.
The pent roof does the job of carrying rainwater away yet doesn’t stand out in the way that an apex roof can. It reaches a peak height of 2.04m and the eaves height below is 1.74m. This is more than adequate for people who are bent down and pushing a motorcycle in although taller people may find it a little cramped when stood up. The overall width however is very generous at 1.83m with an overall depth of 2.65m.
Cladding, Frame and Floor
There are a lot of positives about this garage, but the feature we liked most of all was the cladding as it features tough galvanised steel that’s then been coated in PVC. This gives it excellent protection against rain, effectively making it rust free. It’s also fire rated to class 0 and class 1, which is an important consideration when it’s likely to have fuel and hot exhausts and engines inside it. With a tough metal frame in evidence as well, this feels very strong and stable once assembled. There is no floor included because the garage is designed to be affixed directly onto a flat area of concrete, but for those who want to use this as a general storage area a wooden floor can be added to the purchase for an extra £94.99.
Treatment Requirements and Warranty
With such high quality cladding, and further weather protection added by a pitched roof, we would have been happy to see a 15 year warranty provided by the manufacturer as we often see on high end metal buildings. We were especially pleased, therefore, to find a long 25 year warranty provided on this occasion. It should give the customer real peace of mind, especially as there are no treatment requirements to keep it validated. Being maintenance free, other than periodic cleaning, is yet another advantage provided by the cladding.
Doors and Windows
We sometimes see relatively large garages and workshops that are then compromised by relatively narrow entranceways, but thankfully that wasn’t true on this occasion. The double doors open to a full width of 1.39m, meaning that once the doors are opened the motorcycle can be safely ridden in. There are no windows, but we were pleased to see that there are air vents in the gables. This is very important for a building that can house motorcycles that may be warm from usage, as without ventilation condensation can build up and lead to corrosion.
With no windows, there is no way for those with less than honest intentions to see what’s kept inside. On its own that wouldn’t be enough, so we were pleased to see that the double doors include a key operated locking system. It works very well, but almost as importantly it looks strong and secure as well. This fact alone can be enough to deter some of the more opportune thieves.
There are two varieties of optional extras that are available to be bought with this garage. The first are designed for people who want to use the building as a storage shed or workshop, and they include the aforementioned floor, as well as shelving units and a work bench. While these are all well made and could prove very useful, they also come with quite high price tags attached. Better value, we feel, is provided by the two added security measures that can be bought. A hasp with padlock costs £47.99, and a battery operated infrared alarm system costs just £24.49.
As we expected from the largest motorcycle garage in the Trimetals range, the components used are of a very high quality.
Longevity of Materials 10/10
A 25 year warranty, as offered here, is the longest that we see, and shows how durable and reliable the materials used on this garage are.
This is very well sized for a motorcycle storage facility, so even the widest adventure motorcycle with panniers can be parked inside easily.
Ease of Installation 8.5/10
The sheer size and weight of some of the components mean that it can take two people at least six to seven hours to complete the installation. We recommend setting aside a full day.
Even though this is a large and very well built metal motorcycle garage, the price is also significantly higher than some we review.
Final Thoughts: If you have a wider model of motorcycle, or looking for storage for more than one bike, then this could be the perfect garage for you. It’s not the cheapest but it is very tough and very long lasting, as shown by the 25 year warranty that the manufacturers have the confidence to supply with it. It’s also secure thanks to a key operated lock, but we liked the fact that people can have even better security if they wish by purchasing optional extras. With its built in ventilation and accommodating size, we can imagine this being used for many other purposes as well as a garage.
