Shed Type And Roof Size
This strong and attractive shed would be a great addition to any garden that is lacking in space, but desperately needs somewhere to store things like tools, gardening items and the kids bikes which seem to have taken up residence on the lawn. This is a shed which has a very classy design and is made with some high quality redwood. Inside there is enough space to store a number of items in order to keep them safe. The depth is where most of the floor space in the shed is at right around 8 feet. The 6 feet of width may not sound like a lot, but this just means you need to organise things in the shed a little better, which in our experience usually leads to a more tidy and organised shed. The height is something that we were impressed with as even at the lowest part of the roof there is 5 feet 9 inches of headroom. At its highest there is right around 6 feet 6 inches of height.
Treetops Traditional have used a pent roof to offer your items inside protection from the rain, snow and even the neighbours cats which will probably want to start walking on top of it, shortly after it has been built. The roof is very strong and impressed us by being made with 12 mm thick tongue and groove boards and then covered with roofing felt which is robust, but it does actually have a very nice look to it as well.
Cladding, Frame And Floor
From the pictures you get a sense of just how appealing this shed looks and that is because of the great decision by Treetops Traditional to use 12 mm tongue and groove shiplap cladding. This style of cladding is amazing at keeping the rain outside and thus protecting what you have inside. It also has a very smooth and stylish look that you just do not get with other types of cladding.
The frame which is the backbone of the shed is just incredible and what we feel is going to be the main reason why this is something you will be able to use 20 years from now. Made with the same, strong redwood as the rest of the structure. The frame is 44 mm x 44 mm in its size and it also has rounded edges. We really are impressed with how this frame has been included and not resulted in the price creeping up to near a thousand pounds.
This line of sheds is all about offering a very robust and durable structure and a huge part of this is down to the floor. Nothing can spoil a shed quite like a cheap and bouncy feeling floor which has been used just to save a couple of pounds. Here the flooring is made from tongue and groove boards that are a good 12 mm thick which we are sure will feel great under your feet.
Treatment Requirement And Warranty
A free treatment will be given to the shed, but it is only a basecoat treatment and another coating will be required very shortly after construction by you. To really protect the wood, annually treatment will be needed.
This is a very well made building and we do not really see you having any kind of issues with it, but if you do then you will be covered thanks to the one year guarantee that you get.
Doors And Windows
The door that comes with the 8′ x 6′ Traditional Heavy Pent Shed is very nice in its look, but thanks to being 2 feet 6 inches wide it is also very practical and as it is held in place with strong hinges it is not going to sag on you in a few years. Interestingly, you can request that the door be changed to a barn style door. And if you are willing to pay an extra £53.99 then you can have a double door.
In its default design there are three windows included which will let in lots of natural light into the shed. These are very high quality windows as they are made from horticultural glass. As standard one of the windows will open while the other two are fixed, but for an additional, £31.99, you can have another one of them be able to be opened.
Security And Privacy
Those strong hinges do a tremendous job in keeping the door secure, but there is also a key and lock included. We think the fact that this does offer so much security makes this something that is ideal for those of you looking for somewhere to keep your expensive mower or bikes.
Large windows and privacy really do not go together, but if privacy is something you are worried about then you can request there be no windows at all. Or if you find you do like the windows, but still want some privacy then we feel a set of curtains would look great in here.
Customisation Options And Extras
There are five different locations where you can choose to have the door which will allow you to position it in the best way for your garden. We will say that where you have the door may result in you having to move the windows to a different location or even lose a window, so this is something you will have to think about before you make a decision.
There are a few extras for you to consider with this shed. If you want to give the floor a little bit of extra support then they offer floor bearers which cost, £34.99 for the set. If this seems like it would be a nightmare to build for you as you have a lack of DIY knowledge, then they do offer an installation service for £99.99.
Like the other products from Treetops Traditional, this one here is very high quality and is very well priced consider the overall quality of the shed.
Longevity Of materials 8.5/10
As long as you look after the wood by treating it after construction and yearly thereafter, then this will last you a very long time.
While this is not the largest shed in the line. For smaller gardens this is just the right amount of size.
Ease of installation 8.5/10
As long as you have a tub of biscuits, tea and a friend who is happy to help, then building this will be a rather straightforward and dare we say, fun experience. In all seriousness you are looking at around 2-5 hours at the very most for installation. Or you could just pay the extra and have them install it for you.
While the price may seem a little high for a shed of this size, we must remind you that this is a structure that is built with the highest quality so we do think it is offering good value for money.
Final Thoughts: The 8' x 6' Traditional Heavy Pent Shed is something that did impress us and if you do have a smaller garden is something that we highly recommend you consider. It will keep everything you place inside safe from rain and snow, but it is also a very secure building so you will feel confident in keeping a few more expensive items inside of here. While we do love the way it looks in its standard form, we do really like how there is just so many customisation options and extras for you to consider. While the dimensions may not sound all that impressive, we feel that the quality and the way you can have a little input on the way the shed looks makes this something that is well worth looking into for your next or your very first garden shed.
