Let's Take a Closer Look...

Greenhouse Type And Roof Size

BillyOh 4000 Lincoln Wooden Polycarbonate Greenhouse Closed DoorsMixing wood with polycarbonate sounds like something that would never work in a million years, but the incredible BillyOh 4000 Lincoln Wooden Polycarbonate Greenhouse with its mixture of the two has a look and style that sets it apart from all the rest. BillyOh have surprised us with some of their other products and this one here is their largest model of this style of greenhouse so it does have a very impressive look. When you walk inside the greenhouse for the first time it is going to look like it goes on forever as the depth is an incredible, 11 feet 8 inches. So you will need a fairly decent sized garden to install this, but as the width is 6 feet 5 inches those of you with smaller gardens may be able to squeeze this in somehow. Along the ridge the height of the greenhouse is 6 feet 6 inches and the eaves height is 5 feet 1 so while not the tallest there is still a decent amount of headroom inside of here.

The roof is just incredible. It is made up mainly with this high quality clear, polycarbonate panels that are going to really allow the sun to beam inside the greenhouse. These are supported with a wooden frame that while practical, goes very well with those panels. The apex nature of the roof will make sure the rain runs right off and the fact it will run off at the sides and not where the door is, is always something we like.

Cladding, Frame And Floor

BillyOh 4000 Lincoln Wooden Polycarbonate Greenhouse Internal ViewThe walls of this greenhouse are just amazing and really what give it such a striking look. Most of the walls are made with those same high quality polycarbonate panels that are on the roof. These have been chosen for many different reasons such as the way they will keep the warmth in the greenhouse, the way that will protect what you are trying to grow from ultraviolet light and they are also shatterproof so ideal if you have kids. The greenhouse though also has some lovely tongue and groove cladding along the bottom which we really like as it gives the structure a more classy look.

The framing that keeps those polycarbonate panels on the walls and on the roof is very robust and not too bulky and in the way. We actually love how elegant it looks along with how strong it is. This framing is going to keep the greenhouse strong and secure for many years so you do not have to worry about it getting weak or even flimsy as time goes by.

No actual flooring is included with the greenhouse as it is made to be placed on a concrete surface or even some decking. They do offer a greenhouse base which you can place the greenhouse on. This costs you £94.99 and will give you a couple extra inches of height and also stop the greenhouse from sitting directly on the ground.

Treatment Requirement And Warranty

The lower half of the BillyOh 4000 Lincoln Wooden Polycarbonate Greenhouse will require some wood treatment shortly after construction. The wood will be treated by BillyOh, but the protection they give it will not protect it long term. A new coat once a year will keep the wood safe from rot and decay and given that there is not a whole lot of wood it will not take very long to do.

You will be covered with a one year manufacturers guarantee and that will look after you just in the off chance there is some kind of issue with the panels or the wood.

Doors And Windows

BillyOh 4000 Lincoln Wooden Polycarbonate Greenhouse Front ViewOn the front of the greenhouse there is a set of double doors which will make bringing in even the largest bags of fertilizer very easy. The doors when really do give you lots of room to get in and out. The doors also have a very nice look to them as they are made with that same polycarbonate panels and high quality wood as the rest of the greenhouse. One other thing we really like about the doors is how they have made sure they will not sag over the years by using strong hinges for each door.

We have already told you how impressed we are with those amazing polycarbonate panels, but for those of you looking to look after plants or grow vegetables they are going to really help you out. This is because they keep the heat inside very well so even if it is cold outside, inside the greenhouse it will not be as cold. They offer UV protection and they will not fade over time either so they will stay looking good all the while doing a great job of looking after what you are trying to grow.

Security And Privacy

There is no lock on the doors which is a bit of a shame as last thing you want in a bunch of sneaky squirrels finding their way inside and feasting on your delicious food. So you will certainly want to add some kind of padlock or at least a pad bolt to the door.

While there is clearly not going to be a lot of privacy offered with this greenhouse, you can actually hide some things if you are willing to place them on the floor behind that cladding. Whether or not you are comfortable placing things on the floor is up to you, but it is an option that is there for you.

Customisation Options And Extras

BillyOh 4000 Lincoln Wooden Polycarbonate Greenhouse Inside ViewYou could brighten up the cladding by giving it a coating of paint or even by using a more exciting wood treatment that has a bit of colour to it. We have also seen some pictures where people have installed hanging baskets on the outside which looks really nice.

We already looked at the greenhouse base they offer for £94.99, but they also have a selection of shelving that you may be interested in. The cheapest shelving they offer is shelving for just one side of the greenhouse and this costs £31.97. If you prefer your shelving stacked then they offer a 3 feet high stack of shelves for £31.99. They offer all round shelving that will give you lots of shelving space to make use of for £41.99. The most shelving they offer is their two sides shelving which gives you a large almost bench type for of shelving along one side and a large higher up shelf for the other, this can be added for a cost of £61.94.

Final Thoughts: The BillyOh 4000 Lincoln Wooden Polycarbonate Greenhouse really is a wonderful greenhouse that is going to give you just an amazing amount of space to grow some fantastic tomatoes or plants. We love the design of this and feel that no matter if you are pretty hard core with your gardening and food growing or just looking to get into it, that this greenhouse would be perfect. We do wish that they offered some kind of flooring with it, but with how great everything else is, we are willing to overlook this. Just make sure you have a space that is suitable for this and if you do then we cannot recommend this highly enough.

I bought this greenhouse three months back when I came across an intriguing advertisement describing its many facilities. But since then, this greenhouse is giving me a lot of pain.

The cover is defected and it does not fit properly. This causes poor temperature control inside the greenhouse, resulting in meager, scanty plants. The wood used for this greenhouse is of substandard quality. After a few rainfalls, the wood started to rot and parts of it have started to fall off. Above it, the greenhouse is not even painted and I had to do it myself.

This greenhouse was a total let down and I am not happy with its outcome.

not being used. I saw this one and loved the color. I purchased it with no hesitation. I placed the brick pavers from my house to the greenhouse and it looks lovely. The space is not the biggest, but it works for potting plants to sell at my nursery. The price was good for the product you receive. The setup was simple and fast. The large windows let a great amount of sun in and the vent on the roof allows me to have a breeze on the hot days. The wood is stronger and more durable than I expected for the price. It is also very lightweight to be so sturdy. The polycarbonate glazing on the windows protect me from UV rays, which can be harmful now that I’m older. The panels were easy for me to handle without help. I am very pleased with the product and look forward to working from the greenhouse in the years to come. The customer service was great and unheard of through the ordering process. I recommend this greenhouse for anyone that wants to be outdoors and need protection from the sun.
