Shed Type and Roof Size
This is an extra large storage unit that should easily manage your garden tools. The size of the unit measures up as 161 cm wide, and 80 cm in depth. The internal width goes down to 150.1 cm and the internal depth is 73.3 cm. This is not too much of a loss in space and we don’t see it as affecting the value.
The pent roof of the unit is on a lid opening mechanism, and is crafted from solid sheet material. This gives you a lid that is reasonably sturdy, and with mineral felt as the covering, it should keep the contents dry. Watch out on the felt issue though, because you may want to consider recovering after a year or two due to wear and tear.
Cladding and frame and floor
This is one of the best things about the unit, because it is is clad in overlap tongue and groove. This means that you get plenty of protection and durability here. The tongue and groove involves locking wood panels together, so tightly that there isn’t even a join. This means you get very robust panelling and much more value for money. This also helps to keep out rainwater all year round too.
The floor we were not enamoured with, simply because it is solid sheet again. This is not exactly what we would put on our floor. However with the size of the unit, and as long as you don’t overload it, it could well be a suitable option.
Treatment requirement and warranty
You do get a full treatment from the factory so your timber is in good shape as it arrives at your home. The treatment is one of the reasons why the manufacturer has offered a 5 yr guarantee on the product. It also means you don’t have to apply treatment every year.
Doors and windows
Security and privacy
Turn lock system is included, and this is no bad thing. However it isn’t super secure, so if you have the ability to modify things a little with a padlock, we say go for it.
At this price, we shouldn’t expect much, but it is nice to see the option of bringing different colours to the unit through the selection of colours the manufacturer offers.
This price involves compromise. But we would have liked to see a little more than solid sheet and felt on that roof. It doesn't add to the quality at all.
Longevity Of Materials 6/10
Solid sheet doesn’t work for us. We like toughness and durability. The tongue and groove saves the day here.
Plenty of space here for general tool storage. However, we would recommend that you don’t overload it.
Ease Of Installation 7/10
Easier to put together than most constructions of this type. Shouldn't take you any longer than a few hours.
We actually liked the pent roof and think this adds value. But solid sheet doesn't cut it for us.
Final Thoughts: Price dominates every thing, we understand that. But we would have thought that the manufacturers would at least have allowed some customization on the flooring materials.
