Shed Type and Roof and Size
Here we have a pent roof garden storage unit that is measuring up at 188 cm wide. Internally, this reduces down to 178 cm. As regards the depth of the unit, you have a depth of 100 cm externally and 83 cm internally.
As mentioned, this has a pent roof structure and the roof can really help to keep rainwater out of the equation. This is a good thing, because the material in the roof is not ideal from our point of view. You get solid sheet roofing, which is simply not as watertight and robust as tongue and groove, for example. There is felt covering on top of it, but if it wasn’t for that pent roof there could easily be problems with water.
Cladding and frame and floor
As a mark of some kind of compensation for the less than perfect roof, you get tongue and groove cladding throughout. We can’t fault this stuff, and we are continually surprised to see such low priced items having tongue and groove cladding on them. This makes for a very durable and watertight building, and we feel it is quite possibly the best point we can make about the unit.
That solid sheet returns in the flooring, with no options to upgrade to tongue and groove. We think the manufacturer has missed a trick here. For this price point, people would not mind necessarily having to pay extra for a tongue and groove floor, but it simply isn’t offered.
Treatment requirement and warranty
There is good value here as the manufacturer gives a basecoat applied at the factory. This means that you don’t have to worry about applying treatment annually, which is often the case.
Doors and windows
You get 117.2 cm of opening space on the nice-sized double doors here. They open well too, so you get immediate and full access here.
Security and Privacy
You can enjoy having the turn button but if you want to ramp up the security on your purchase we heartily recommend that you buy the padlock and padlock protectors sets that BillyOh offers as extras.
Padlocks and protecters have already been mentioned. You can also buy shelving, which we think is a very good idea to help maximise what you can store in the unit.
There is also an option to choose the colour of the trim and the walls, and the tubs of colours are not prohibitively priced.
The roof and floor do you no favours. Again, nothing to stop the purchase, but we would have liked to see more of the tongue and groove.
Longevity of materials
You can't buy tongue and groove for the flooring, and the lack of solidity in certain areas has guided our score here.
There is a lot of room, and we also recommend that you buy that shelving so that you get more value for money.
Ease Of Installation
Give it 6-8 hours with two people. It’s a hefty unit, and requires a little care in putting together.
While It isn't necessarily cheap, it isn’t expensive either. We would happily agree to paying extra too, for tongue and groove flooring. We think there is one option or two missing here.
Final Thoughts: This would have been the perfect storage option at this price if customization was enhanced with flooring choices. As it is, it is a perfectly capable store with missed potential.
