Here we have a shed that will stand out in even the biggest garden! This is the largest Blickling shed that Crane offer and boy is this thing a monster! When you see this shed, fully built and it is standing there with its apex style corrugated roof, log store and Georgian style window. It is pretty much impossible not to be impressed by this shed. Crane have designed this line of shed to look like a classic, English style shed that you would find in an East Anglian garden many years ago. We love this throwback design and think it makes this series of sheds really stand out from all the others.

The log store is what most people notice right away when they first look at this shed as it is a rather, unique feature that you hardly ever see. That corrugated roof as well as looking amazing gives also gives you a feeling that all your items will be safe from the rain when they are inside. In all this is a shed that really does deliver an awe inspiring first impression.

IMPORTANT – Why we recommend buying this product from the National Trust over other sites.

At WhatShed we strive to help give you the customer the best possible information to help you decide what garden building is right for you. The following are the reasons why we say – Buy from the National Trust for maximum consumer protection!!

All online retailers are obliged under the distance selling regulations to offer a 14 working day right to withdraw from the contract to purchase. Starting the day after the date the item is delivered. 30-day no quibble returns guarantee = The National Trust blow this out of the water by offering what we at WhatShed believe is the best and safest customer guarantee on offer when buying a garden building online. They offer a “No quibble 30-day returns guarantee means that if for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, you can return it to us in its original condition within 30 days of the date you received the item, and we will issue a full refund for the price you paid for the item.”

Item damaged in transit = We commonly see the complaint with other retailers that the customers garden building gets damaged in transit. Most other company seem to do everything they can to get out of helping you if this happens. The real stand out service that the National Trust offers goes way beyond what we have seen from any other merchant. They say “If the item was damaged in transit. If you take delivery of a National Trust Online Shop package and the contents have been damaged in transit, you can return the item(s) to us within 30 days of receipt for exchange.” That is an outstanding commitment to customer service and we wish more retailers in this sector could boast the same levels of commitment.

In short unlike some other merchants we have reviews we feed 100% confident with the way the National Trust is handling its customers in the event they run into a problem. Time and again we see reports of products getting damaged in transit. We strongly feel that the National Trusts no quibble 30-day returns guarantee means that if for any reason you have with your purchase you are in safe hands. We only wish some of the other retailers would offer the same outstanding level of protection and peace of mind that the National Trust are giving customers. Now no one in their right mind would drop this much money on a shed right away…. No matter how amazing it looks in the photos. So please read on to see if this behemoth of a shed is right for your garden.

Shed Type And Roof Size

Blickling Painter's GreyThis is a huge shed! We are talking really huge here. If you have a big garden or need to store a ton of things then this shed will be right for you. To start with the shed is 8 feet 1 inch high at the ridge…… 8 feet high! 11 feet 8 inches of length means that you could actually lay down a full size basketball hoop in here and still have room on the floor! The shed is also very deep offering you 7 feet 8 inches of space. As you can see this is a very large shed and as a result does require a large garden to be in….. oh and we nearly forgot there is also that log store on the side which offers you even more storage space. The log store is 5 feet 9 inches high (which is the same as the door) and is 2 feet 9 inches wide.

The apex style corrugated roof that is used here will make sure that the water just runs of the roof and that none gets inside, but it is also a very prominent feature of the shed. Crane picked this corrugated roof sheeting as it looks just like what was used on many English sheds years ago. It does give it that “old school” look which many new sheds are lacking. Under this corrugated roof we have some strong 16 x 125 mm tongue and groove boards.

Cladding, Frame And Floor

Blickling Terrace GreenOne thing that we love about this shed (and we are actually big fans of shiplap cladding here) is that they use a classic, sawn cladding to comprise the walls. Now if you know about sheds, you may be thinking that sawn board cladding does not sound all that strong, but let us tell you this is not cheap wood…. Oh no it is not! Crane have gone and used some Scandinavian Redwood which is incredibly tough and will laugh when the kids or dog run into…. Not that we want your kids or dog to run into the shed of course! Crane have gone for sawn board cladding because along with the corrugated roof we talked about earlier. It helps give the shed its amazing, British design.

This is a large shed and we are always just a little concerned how sturdy these large sized sheds will be. They need a strong frame to make sure everything is secure and this shed does have a nice frame. The frame is 38 x 50 mm and it is more than up to the task of supporting this shed. We are very impressed with the decision to use Scandinavian Redwood throughout and this is a huge reason as to why this is such a strong shed. You would be mind blown as to how many sheds we have seen that have just awful weak frames!

The flooring here is made from the same 16 x 125 mm tongue and groove boarding that is used for the roof. Now this is what most sheds do and it is more than strong enough to take the crazy amount of stuff that you will be storing in here (it is a huge shed after all!) these are really good boards and we are more than happy with them. To make sure the floor is not too bouncy and to give it just a little bit more support, Crane are sitting the shed on some 38 x 50 floor joists.

Treatment Requirement And Warranty

The Blickling ShedCrane offer a two year warranty with their sheds and they will be more than happy to come to your property in order to fix, replace or just do what needs to be done in order to make sure your shed is at its very best. Now they will only do this if faults occur as a result of general wear and tear. If something goes wrong with the shed because of something you did or because you did not take proper care of it then you will not be covered. We think if you are spending this kind of money on a shed, you should be treating it like part of the family anyway!

Doors And Windows

Blickling Earl's GreyCrane have a standard 710 x 1800 mm size door that they use on all their Blickling Sheds and it works like a charm. This is not one of those doors where you have to breath in, turn sideways and get in some crab like position to get inside! This is a good sized door and unless you are planning on storing some kind of minibus in here, you will have no issues at all. Crane also use these fantastic black door hinges which first of all look good from a presentational point of view, but these are actually very good and high quality door hinges which will keep your door up right for many, many years. A black mortice lock and door handle are there to keep things safe and also look good in the process.

We love the Georgian style window that Crane are using on this line of sheds. It looks so nice in the middle of the shed and it is made with some very strong, 4 mm thick (and toughened) glass. The Blickling Shed we think really makes this window pop out as it is located right between the door and the log store. While you do not want the kids or grandkids kicking a ball near your shed at least you know this is a tough enough window to take the odd hit.

Security And Privacy

Blickling Dome OchreWe have seen sheds with such weak door hinges that if you wanted to break in, literally all you would have to do is pull the door and it would come off! That is not the case here. This is a strong door that comes with a mortise style lock and key so you can keep all your awesome belongings inside and safe. Now the window may let people “peek” into your shed, but if that is a concern of yours then think about finding a nice curtain.

Customisation Options

We love how Crane have a good selection of colours for people to pick from to make sure the shed fits into their garden. They offer a choice of six different colours with different shades of green, brown and grey. This means that no matter what kind of garden you have, you are bound to find a colour that just blends in with the rest of your garden.

So, How Does It All Stack Up?
Quality 9/10

You really will struggle to find something tougher than this Scandinavian Redwood and it just not only makes the shed look fantastic, but it gives it just a solid feel. This is a shed that when you touch it, you know it is high quality.
Longevity Of Materials 7/10

Like the smaller Blickling Sheds that Crane offer we do worry about that log store (as amazing as it is) being wide open all year round. We have harsh winters and we do wonder after a few years how this will affect the floor of the log store.
Storage Size 9/10
90% Complete
The only problem you will have with this shed in regards to its storage size is figuring out what to do with it all! This shed is a monster and even if you do not put any shelving in here, you still have a vast amount of space.
Ease Of Installation 10/10
100% Complete
While a few DIY nuts we are sure would love to take on this beast. Most people will love how, Crane not only deliver, but they also build the shed! This means no cut fingers, broken thumbs, stuff in your eye and it also means that at the end of the day, you have a shed that has been built properly.
Value For Money 7/10
70% Complete
Look you get a lot of storage space here ,not even counting the extra space you get with the log store. And the shed looks just absolutely gorgeous, but the shed does come with a near three thousand pound price tag and that for most people will be very hard to swallow.
8.5
Overall Score
Final Thoughts: Boy this is actually a tough one. You see we really do love pretty much everything about this shed. Nothing stands out in a garden more than a nice large shed and a shed like this with unique and special features like the corrugated roof and the wood store look extra nice…… but the price at £2,995.00 means this is a shed that you really have to be 110 percent on to buy and it also means that it is probably out of the price range for many people. If it is the storage space you are attracted to more than the design then you can get a similar sized shed for a much cheaper price.
