When you first see the 6 X 8 Oxburgh Shed, you know right away that this is made for a person who really enjoys spending time and taking care of their garden. Made for a person who loves to have a space for their mower and the rest of the gardening tools, this is a good sized shed and placing out all your items in here is going to be a lot of fun. The classic style of this shed makes it something which will not only serve you very well from a storage point of view, but look great as it sits in your garden for a long time.

The Oxburgh Shed is a really sturdy and in it for the long haul type of shed as it is made with the best materials. Scandinavian Redwood is used all throughout the shed to give it a good look, but also make sure it is strong and will be a main feature of your garden for a lot of years. A pent style corrugated roof is there to give it a unique kind of look, but also to make sure that that the rain keeps out and everything inside stays dry. A classic, Georgian style window is there to just tie everything together and really make this a fun, but practical shed.

30-day no quibble returns guarantee = The National Trust blow this out of the water by offering what we at WhatShed believe is the best and safest customer guarantee on offer when buying a garden building online. They offer a “No quibble 30-day returns guarantee means that if for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, you can return it to us in its original condition within 30 days of the date you received the item, and we will issue a full refund for the price you paid for the item.”

Item damaged in transit = We commonly see the complaint with other retailers that the customers garden building gets damaged in transit. Most other company seem to do everything they can to get out of helping you if this happens. The real stand out service that the National Trust offers goes way beyond what we have seen from any other merchant. They say “If the item was damaged in transit. If you take delivery of a National Trust Online Shop package and the contents have been damaged in transit, you can return the item(s) to us within 30 days of receipt for exchange.” That is an outstanding commitment to customer service and we wish more retailers in this sector could boast the same levels of commitment.

In short unlike some other merchants we have reviews we feed 100% confident with the way the National Trust is handling its customers in the event they run into a problem. Time and again we see reports of products getting damaged in transit. We strongly feel that the National Trusts no quibble 30-day returns guarantee means that if for any reason you have with your purchase you are in safe hands. Shed Type And Roof Size

Oxburgh Dome OchreCrane have really managed to capture the classic look and style that this National Trust line of sheds was started for with this lovely Oxburgh Shed. You have a quite decent amount of space in here so that storing your mower, gardening tools or whatever else you may want to keep safe from the elements will be easy. The length of the shed is 7 feet 8 inches and the width is 5 feet 9 inches and we really do feel that for its purpose this gives the shed a very good amount of floor space. Plus the shed really does not have a huge footprint so it will easily be able to fit into most gardens no matter their size. Height wise, you have at the lowest point a little over 6 feet of height at the back of the shed and a few inches more at the front due to the pent design.

Using a pent style roof was a very smart design decision by Crane as it makes it so no rain will be able to get inside because it will always drain off the back. Corrugated roof sheeting offers far more protection than standard roofing felt and it also looks very nice and gives the shed a classic kind of look. The roof boards are made from 16 x 125 mm thick, Scandinavian Redwood and this is very good boarding which does the job it was designed to do so well that you will probably never even notice it is there.

Cladding, Frame And Floor

Oxburgh Wade's LanternTo keep the same kind of classic design that the roof has, we love how the Oxburgh Shed uses that very traditionally British sawn board cladding. Made with Scandinavian Redwood and at a very impressive, 12 x 150 mm in size, the cladding here will do a fantastic job over the years at keeping the rain away from all your gardening tools or other items that you have inside. As well as being incredibly practical, Crane have made sure the cladding has some real style about it by adding a little topping of 16 x 38 mm which gives it a very cool looking effect. Because of the Scandinavian Redwood, the cladding not only looks very stylish, but it is very strong.

In order to make sure this is a shed that is going to last you many, many years there is an incredibly durable and well designed frame here. The frame is 38 x 50 mm and like the other parts of the shed is made with that same Scandinavian Redwood that we love. We really cannot overstate how important a good frame is to a shed in making sure that it lasts more than just a couple of years. With a frame like this you have no worries at all about the shed becoming a little bit flimsy and losing some of its strength. This frame is so strong that even if the kids kick a ball at it, run into it or give it any other kind of abuse that kids for some reason love to do, it will still be standing strong and looking good.

This shed wants you to store a lot of things inside it and that requires a reliable and strong floor in order to keep your mower, tools and also be up to the task of staying strong while you are pottering around in there. The flooring of The Oxburgh Shed is the same as the roof – 16 x 125 mm Scandinavian Redwood boards. These do a great job and along with the 38 x 50 mm floor joists, providing a floor that will last for a lot of years and best of all not feel cheap like some shed floors do tend to do after a short amount of time.

Treatment Requirement And Warranty

Osburgh Earl's GreyLike any good shed, you are going to want to get a lot of years of service out of it. We think that the materials used and the way that Crane will build the shed for you will ensure this, but to really make this shed last, you are going to have to get some wood treatment and treat the shed as soon as you get it. If you do this and show the shed some love then there is no reason as to why this is the only shed you will ever need.

The two year warranty that Crane offer we feel is very fair as it does cover you against what they class as general wear and tear. So if there is some kind of issue with the shed, you just need to give them a call and they will arrange for a repair or replacement. Crane are expert builders and will advise you on the best area in your garden to place the shed. If you do not take their advice and choose a spot which is what they class as unsuitable then your warranty may be void.

Doors And Windows

Oxburgh Painter's GreyThe Oxburgh Shed really does have great door that fits in with the shed perfectly. It is 710 mm wide and 1800 mm high which is a very good amount of space for you to get things in and out without having any major troubles; items such as a mower will get in and out of here with ease. The amount of sheds we have seen where after just a year the door starts to hang off the hinges and become a pain in the rear end to open and close would probably surprise you. This is always because of cheap door hinges. Well this shed makes use of black strap hinges that are first of all, strong and will keep the door where it is supposed to be. But as well as this they also look great and go so well with the black door handle and lock.

There is a lovely Georgian style window on the Oxburgh Shed which just adds that little bit more class. This window has been made with actual glass which is always better than the plastic or styrene windows that many modern style sheds like to use. At 4 mm thick this glass looks good and is very strong also as it has been toughened. The frame has been designed and built by Cranes expert joiners and in all the window is just such a lovely feature of the shed and gives it that little bit more personality.

Security And Privacy

Oxburgh Terrace GreenTo make sure no one can make off with your mower, Crane have added a very secure, mortice style lock. We know that keeping your belongings safe will be a concern of yours and we are very confident that this lock and key is all you need. If you do want that little bit extra security then you could always add a padlock, but truth be told we do not think this is necessary.

While there is a window on the shed there are not really any privacy concerns, but we do know that some peoples preference is to have a curtain or perhaps some blinds to keep people from being able to look in. Thanks to the strong Scandinavian Redwood, installing some blinds or curtains would be no hassle at all or cause any problems with the shed.

Customisation Options And Extras

When it comes to making the Oxburgh Shed your own, you can do this via the six different colours that Crane have for you to make sure the shed fits in with the rest of your garden. The colours are Dome Ochre, Wades Lantern, Earls Grey, Terrace Green, Painters Grey and Disraeli Green.

Final Thoughts: This is a shed that because of its size would easily fit in any garden and that is something we love. The fantastic materials that are used, the care in which it will be built and the fun you can have laying everything out inside makes this a very easy recommendation for us. The price is also fantastic as we honestly believe that with the right amount of attention and care on your part that the Oxburgh Shed will be keeping your mower safe for years to come and will be something that you look with pride at each time you see it.
