The Hartwood 8′ x 6′ FSC Pressure Treated Pebworth Summerhouse is one very interesting summerhouse that manages to mix a classic rustic style with a little bit of modern personality. The end result is one very cool and unique looking structure that is going to be a real highlight of your garden. This is a very decently sized summerhouse, so you are going to be able to lay it out just the way you want. Those large double doors do not just look fantastic they also offer well over 5 feet of width and height to get your furniture inside.

As the timber used to construct this summerhouse has been pressure treated, you do not have to do much in the way of maintenance or worry about it suffering from rot. The materials used are very impressive, starting with that very rustic looking overlap cladding and the robust frame that it is connected to. The flooring is made from some very strong, solid sheet boarding and supported with a set of high quality floor joists. A high apex roof has been used so the rain will always run right off and it is so high that the headroom it offers you is very generous.

Let's Take a Closer Look...

Summerhouse Type And Roof Size

Hartwood 8' x 6' FSC Pressure Treated Pebworth Summerhouse FrontThe Hartwood 8′ x 6′ FSC Pressure Treated Pebworth Summerhouse is a very interesting looking summerhouse, as it manages to have a somewhat rustic charm to it, but also look very cool as well. We really like what they have done with this summerhouse and actually are having a hard time thinking of another one that has a similar look. The size is actually quite impressive and while not one of the larger summerhouses at 7 feet 11 inches wide and 6 feet 8 inches deep, it is still a very good size and offers you plenty of possibilities when it comes to your layout.

With this having a reverse design we would have thought that they would have gone for a pent style roof, but we are very happy to see that they have instead gone for a high apex roof, so high that along the ridge it is an incredible 7 feet 8 inches and even at the eaves the height is a very respectable 6 feet high. Solid sheet boarding covered with some rather high quality felt is what the roof is made from, and this is great as it is strong, but also ideal in keeping the summerhouse at under £500.

Cladding, Frame And Floor

Hartwood 8' x 6' FSC Pressure Treated Pebworth Summerhouse SideThe overlap cladding is what gives this summerhouse its fantastic style. It is 7 mm thick which we know does not sound like a lot, but due to the way this is designed and the fact that the wood has been pressure treated it is actually far stronger than you may think, so strong that we can see the kids or grandkids kicking a ball of this and it having no effect. The overlap nature of the cladding is also great for our awesome UK weather, as it will easily keep out the rain.

Inside the summerhouse we have a solid frame. 28 mm x 28 mm seems to be the standard frame these days and with good reason too. It keeps a shed, summerhouse or even a kids playhouse strong and sturdy and it also is very cost effective. Plus, it does not take up a whole lot of space in the summerhouse. Last thing you want is some unnecessarily oversized frame eating into your space.

The solid sheet boarding that is used for the floor is fine as it can take plenty of weight. They have also used some very strong floor joists as well so under your feet is a very impressive floor. It may not be the prettiest flooring we have seen, but it gets the job done very well. If a little get together all of a sudden turns into some kind of wild break dancing party, then this floor can take it.

Treatment Requirement And Warranty

A huge part of what gives the summerhouse its strong design is the fact that all of the wood has been pressure treated. This not only will make the structure strong and long lasting, but it also means that it does not require annual treatment from you in order to protect it from rot so for those of you who want a summerhouse that does not require a whole lot of maintenance then this one would be ideal.

The Hartwood 8′ x 6′ FSC Pressure Treated Pebworth Summerhouse is so well made that the manufacturer feels comfortable giving away a 15 year anti rot guarantee with it.

Doors And Windows

The large double doors are what make this such a cool looking summerhouse. To start, with both doors open it gives the summerhouse a very unique look in that at first glance it looks like there are no doors at all. Plus, with the doors open, you have a lot of space to get in and out of the structure as the doors are 5 feet 9 inches wide and 5 feet 5 inches high.

The doors have large windows on them and then there are a further two windows next to the doors. We really like this design as it does make the summerhouse that little bit more inviting and of course it allows for plenty of light to get inside. While we feel that some actual glass would have been really nice, we do not mind the anti shatter styrene that the windows are made from. This styrene actually makes this ideal if you have children, as there is no worry about there being broken glass all over the garden.

Security And Privacy

The pad bolt that is included will keep the doors closed and it also looks pretty smart with its silver colour. We do feel that they could have put some kind of locking mechanism on here, be it an actual lock and key or even just a padlock. So if you do want to put some items in here that are a bit on the expensive side, then you will want to look into adding a padlock.

With the vast amount of windows that are on the front of the summerhouse, there is not much privacy on offer here. You will need to add some curtains or blinds if you do want to give yourself a bit of privacy or even just so the items you have inside here are not on show when you are not home.

Customisation Options And Extras

This is a summerhouse that does not come with any customisation options. The way that you put your own stamp on this is on the inside where you can get very creative as you plan out how you are going to organise your summerhouse.

At £119.99, the plastic shed base may be a practical extra for those of you installing the summerhouse on grass, but we do feel that this is rather highly priced so it is not something that we would highly recommend. We actually feel that this will be fine being installed on grass.

This will need two people to install it and while at first it may seem a little daunting, you will not have too many problems with this and even the more fiddly sections of the summerhouse will not put you too far over the edge.
