Shed Type And Roof Size
This, 8 X 8 Apex Plastic Shed really is quite impressive and for those of you who want a space where you can keep your tools safe from the bad weather and organised so you know where everything is, are just going to love this. We really like what they have done with the design and rather than just go for a box shaped building this one has a design that does in many ways resemble a barn which is something we really like. The size of this is ideal for all type of gardens as it really does not take up a whole lot of room. At the same time though we feel that the 8 feet of depth and width is more than enough space for the average person and with the right organisation will allow you to fit many things inside. Speaking of organisation one awesome bonus of this shed is that it actually comes with two shelves you can install to help you keep things tidy. Along the ridge there is right around 7 feet of headroom so pottering around in here will not require you to be hunched over the whole time.
We really like the apex roof on this shed. It has such a great look to it with the two different colours of plastic really making it stand out. Of course with this being an apex roof the rain is just going to bounce right off it and roll all the way down to the ground, never sitting on top trying to find its way inside. If you take a closer look at the pictures then you will see right on the front and just under the roof there is a small air vent which will allow fresh air inside which if you are spending a fair bit of time in here, we are sure you will be very glad of.
Cladding, Frame And Floor
While this is called a plastic shed it is actually made with some very high quality resin that is thick enough and is so strong that even the kids football is not going to cause it any trouble. We really like the white colouring that they have used and feel that it will fit into any style of garden. This type of resin is also rot free so you will never have to worry about the good looks of the shed fading over time.
While the resin walls are very strong the whole structure is steel reinforced to make it extra strong. So while there may not be what is considered a traditional frame like you would get with a wooden shed inside here, you can rest assured that the framing used to keep this altogether is strong and will keep this a secure structure for a very long time.
We have seen quite a few plastic sheds that do not come with a floor, but this one here actually comes with the flooring. This is a high quality plastic floor panel that we love, but we would suggest you build this on a sturdy surface such as concrete or decking. Grass would be ok if that is your only option, but just make sure it is a nice flat surface you are using.
Treatment Requirement And Warranty
While wooden sheds look lovely, let’s face it the whole annual treatment thing can start to wear thin after a while. With a plastic shed though, you do not have to worry about that at all. This is as low maintenance as you can get. There is no treatment at all required and the materials are rot and rust free. The only thing you may want to do is give it a blast with the hose to keep it clean.
A very generous 10 year warranty is included with this 8 X 8 Apex Plastic Shed and we feel that with the materials used that you are going to get at least, and we mean the very least, double that out of this shed.
Doors And Windows
We were very surprised to see a set of double doors on this shed as most other sheds of this size will just use a single. These double doors are made with the same type of resin as the rest of the shed and they are done in a differ colour which makes them stand out more and also helps give the shed a bit more personality. Each door has a large handle which is of course practical, but we are sure the reason these were used was because of how great they look. The doors are wide and high so getting larger things such as a mower or even some high shelving will be nice and easy.
There is one fixed, styrene window on the shed, located on the side this will allow a little bit of light into the shed and it also helps in making it more attractive as well. With the window being styrene you do not have to worry about smashing it by accident when you are working in here or even the kids bending it like Beckham and putting a football through it.
Security And Privacy
There is a rotating hasp to make sure the doors close securely and you could easily add a padlock to this at very little cost. We are not sure why they have not included one, but as they are so cheap we will not be too harsh on them for this. With a padlock, you will be more than happy to keep your most expensive tools and gardening equipment in here as it really is one very secure structure.
This is a very private shed with only one window it is not exactly easy for someone to look and see what amazing tools you have. The window is not that large so even if you were to have this facing the street or a neighbor’s house, people would still struggle to see inside.
Customisation Options And Extras
While we love how strong and low maintenance this style of shed is, it does not allow for any customisation options.
The only thing missing from this is a padlock which if you do have some expensive items you plan on putting in here is something we highly recommend you buy.
We really like these plastic based sheds and this one is very high quality from the plastic used for the floor all the way up to the apex roof.
Longevity of Materials
You know this is a long lasting shed due to the fact they feel comfortable giving you a ten year warranty with it. You will get way more years out of it than that though and best of all these materials require no looking after.
We feel that 8 x 8 is a good size for most gardens and will allow you to organise your items well and keep them safe from the bad weather. While this is a good general size with some clever planning, you can really fit a whole host of items in here.
Ease of Installation
Plastic sheds tend to be a little easier to put together than wood, but you can still expect this to take around 4-6 hours. Another person helping you is highly recommended as some sections can be a little tricky.
This is a little higher priced than we would like to see, but still we must admit this is well made and long lasting so really for what you are getting the price is not out of line at all.
Final Thoughts: While some may feel that plastic sheds are inferior to plastic, we feel that sheds like this, 8 X 8 Apex Plastic Shed can prove those doubters wrong. This has a great look and the use of different colours of resin really does give it a lot of character and charm. The 8 x 8 size of it means that while you can fit many items inside here, you do not have to worry about it taking up all the space in your garden. For those of you who just want a space to potter around and store your tools, but have no desire to paint or look after a shed will just love how low maintenance this is and that is the type of person we feel would really benefit from having a fantastic shed like this.
