Let's Take a Closer Look...

Smoby Winnie The Pooh Hut and Swing: Our first impressions

A brilliant, innovative Winnie the Pooh design playhouse which has additional features such as the swing and slide. Suitable for age 2 plus it will give the children and grandchildren hours of fun. The children can enter and exit the playhouse through two different points – great for peek a boo! In a natural colour with a green roof, window feature and bright graphics it’s a wonderful choice and will look great in any garden. The plastic is UV resistant so will not fade meaning it will look good for years to come and it is extremely easy to assemble.

As you can see from the pictured this playhose is designed to be a forest hut that could be found in the magic of Hundred Acre Wood that Winnie the Pooh lives in. The Winnie the Pooh playhouse is decorated with official imagery from Disney -Pixar Winnie. The little fans will love the pictures of the honey-loving Pooh that decorate the main playhouse exterior.

Smoby Winnie The Pooh Hut and Swing: How safe is it?

Overall as with all of the Smoby playhouses we feel this is a very safe plastic playhouse. As the playhouse is manufactured in the EU you can be assured that it has passed all the appropriate safety tests. Below we will focus on a few of the areas that we thought might concern parents a little.Smoby Winnie swing on The Pooh Hut and Swing

Swing: The swing on the playhouse is pretty good. It has a two component make up, this allows for either young child that can’t fully hold on to the ropes to be secured in the swing. This safety harness can be easily removed (as seen by the picture). Overall this feature is perfect for a child that is growing; as such this is perfect for 2 to 5 year olds. In many ways the versatility of this playhouse gives it an edge over many of its rivals.

Slide: The next thing we want to take a look at is the slide. Overall this is not very high but all the same for the younger end of the playhouses age range we feel that adult supervision should be given to avoid any falls.

Smoby Winnie The Pooh Hut and Swing backLadder at back: As with the above point on the slide, we feel that a slight risk might be posed by the ladder for the younger users. For a typical 2 year old the ladders top will be at around shoulder height and due to the rounded edges of the plastic it might be harder for a small 2 year olds fingers to grab. Overall this is not a big concern and as we a crawl space under the main playhouse we feel that there is enough to keep your little ones occupied from 2 to 5 years old with this product.

Smoby Winnie The Pooh Hut and Swing: How easy is it to build?

Like most of the plastic playhouses that we have reviewed this Smoby playhouse is very easy to assemble. It’s very much a slot, click and tighten construction model. By that we mean you slot or click the bits of the playhouse together. The tighten bit refers to the thick plastic screws that are supplied that you just need to tighten to make the whole structure more ridged. The bottom line is all the plastic playhouses are very easy to construct and very sturdy once built.

Smoby Winnie The Pooh Hut and Swing: What is the overall quality like?

For those that don’t know Smoby is a French company and all design and manufacturing is done in France. A random fact, they are based in Jura also known as the birthplace of the French toy industry. Smoby proudly say its team’s know-how is unique and incomparable. They also say that they provide high quality, fantastic innovation and high-end finishing for maximum playing joy.

So with all that we have pretty high hopes for the Smoby playhouses. The big question is, are they as good as they say they are? Well the review team at WhatShed.co.uk have to say that our first impressions are a resounding YES.

We were particularly impressed with the thick plastic that was used in this construction. The thicker plastic has given this a much sturdier feel. As is standard with moist quality playhouses this one has an Anti-UV treatment within the plastic to reduce the chances of its colour fading.Smoby Winnie The Pooh Hut and Swing size

I have two small children and I wanted them to have more options of play toys outdoors, so I purchased this hut and swing. At first, I thought it was a little small, but for how small my two boys are, it is the perfect size for them. I don’t think any child over 4 should be using this as it would be too small for them. My boys are 2 so it is perfect right now. I like it because it is Winnie The Pooh and mostly every child loves that show. Not to mention, its also UV resistant. That makes me feel more at ease when they are playing outside. It is pretty sturdy so I can let my boys climb around in it. I still stay close by but I don’t have to worry as much.

I have one two year old that is just loving this! He loves the Pooh so far that is and the swing he is hooked on. The assembly was a snap for me and the husband and it was at a perfect price point. This is ideal for us because guess what? We have another rug bug on the way and this is the best hand-me -down ever!

I would recommend this highly to people who do want to have more kids or who have grand kids on the way because you will get far more life out of it .

The durability is perfect and can easily withstand all the grabbing and pulling and yanking that two year old’s do. It is a safe toy as well, nothing to have to watch and the parts are light so if a sibling swings the swing into another child, not too much damage should occur.

Me and the wife had gotten ourselves a brand new home theater out of my bonus, so we decided to get this for the little ones too. The whole thing cost us around £500, which is certainly on the higher side. But I choose to get this instead of a wooden play set because I am afraid of my kids suffering from splinters or hurting themselves. Secondly, I didn’t have the expertise or the time to assemble a wooden set.
On to the playhouse itself, I didn’t expect much from plastic construction but this one surprised me quite pleasantly. The plastic is pretty sturdy, able to support all three of my kids jumping on the slide at one time. I was a little apprehensive about my 3 year old swinging, but the swing had enough ground clearance for him to play around comfortably.

My husband got this lovely little playhouse for our twins for their second birthday. They have been having a blast with it since they got it!

Assembling it was no chore at all. The size of the house could fit both of my kids with no problems. But I have my doubts about the swing. My husband tells me that it’s completely fine but I don’t buy it. It doesn’t look too sturdy. Maybe I’m being too paranoid! It has been only a week since we bought the playhouse and I’m already seeing dents on the plastic material.

The house looked great at first and it was sold at reasonable price, but it’s not very long lasting. I would recommend getting a stronger model.

Hi Kakie, thanks for the comment. If you need any assistance in relation to spare parts the best point of contact will be the customer service managers over at Smoby UK. You can email them at care@smobytoys.co.uk I hope they can help, remember if its under 12 months old then you should still be able to get the bits replaced under warranty.

Hi Del, I think the best solution would be to get some wood from your local DIY store and replace it yourself. I am not aware of any replacement roofs for sale by the manufactures.
