Shed Type and Roof and Size
This is specifically a tool storage unit and it has a pent roof. This pent roof alone adds huge value due to the fact that it allows rainwater to run off.
The measurements for width are 1.85 m and the depth measurements are 0.95 m so you have plenty of space inside. The depth reduces a little to 87.9 cm internally.
The roof is a key feature. If you are storing something reasonably valuable (like tools) you should be able to relax knowing that rainwater is not going to get to them and make them rusty. This is the case here, and the pent roof simply lets that rainwater run off quickly. As appropriate for a unit of this price, the roof is crafted from solid sheet, which, while not as tough as tongue and groove, should still provide some protection, and the pent aspect helps with that.
Felt covering is used on the roof, and again the pent should go a long way to compensating for this.
Cladding and frame and floor
Right from the outset here there is real value. The manufacturers have gone straight to the top of the pile and included tongue and groove cladding on the unit. This builds in massive durability and some peace of mind for you. The cladding should allow you to enjoy the unit for years to come. Strong and tough, and made up of interlocking pieces with no entry points for water, tongue and groove is high quality, and we were very pleased indeed to see it on this price point.
It gets interesting on the flooring too. You can have no floor and literally make your own or you can choose solid state flooring. But for us we recommend that you go up to that tongue and groove option. It doesn’t cost much more and you can still be sitting there with a unit that has tongue and groove on floor and walls for under £200. Tongue and groove will give you a more durable building.
Treatment requirement and warranty
They keep giving more value here. A full basecoat treatment has been applied at the factory. Normally, you would have to treat the building every year, but the basecoat reduces the work significantly. This is a great aspect, and presents great value for this price point.
Doors and windows
You get 146.5 cm of opening space on these double doors, and this is very generous. If you have a large lawnmower, for example, there is no problem here.
Security and privacy
There is a basic turn button supplied, but you can also buy a lock and protection system with the unit as an extra. They don’t cost a lot, and offer more security.
The flooring has already been discussed, as have the locks. The manufacturer has also offered a 3ft stack of shelves as an option for customisation. We recommend this because it means you get more use out of the building.
Excellent quality apart from the roof, which could have done with more thought.
Longevity Of Materials 9/10
Apart from the roof, and as long as you buy tongue and groove on the floor, you have an extremely tough building that should last for years.
Plenty of storage here, and it is big enough to manage a lawnmower as well as a number of tools.
Ease Of Installation 7/10
Its a bit bigger than your average storage unit, so give it 6-8 hours after pre drilling and so on, and use two people for the job.
We can only gripe about the roof. Go for the flooring and you still end up with change from £200. We like this, and we applaud the manufacturer for building in quite a lot for the price.
Final Thoughts: Perfect if you have a lawnmower that needs quick storage. A good all round building that could have done with a better roof.
Prices around: £115
