Shed Type and Roof and Size
This entry level shed has a width of 202 cm and a depth of 238.8 cm. Internally, this reduces to 181.4 cm and 234.4 cm.
The roof is in the apex style, bringing plenty of head height in the building. This is also a good kind of roof to have for the reduction of rainwater. The style of roof means that the rainwater will simply run off quicker than it would on other roofs. However, the roof is made of solid sheet materials, and this has a quality issue attached to it. It is an entry-level shed, so you’ll have to make sacrifices somewhere. But we would have liked to have seen a better roof. The roof also has mineral felt for covering, and this will need replacing after a couple of seasons.
Cladding and frame and floor
The cladding of the building has also been affected by that price. It is simple and basic rustic overlap cladding. This is not the best cladding in the world, but one of the key features of the material is that it will look great. Indeed, this cladding brings a lovely rustic appearance to the building. However, it is not as strong as, say, tongue and groove cladding.
As regards flooring, the manufacturer has provided you with some options as part of the customisation process. Skip the solid sheet flooring option and go straight for the tongue and groove option. This will give you a stronger floor and make up for the cladding problem.
Treatment requirement and warranty
Amazingly for such a low price item, the building has been treated at the factory. This takes away a lot of work from you, and also assures you that building will be solid and robust from the outset.
Doors and windows
There are two windows supplied with the building. They are fixed windows so they cannot be used for ventilation. However, a key quality aspect has been addressed. The windows are made using styrene. Styrene is very strong and shatterproof as well, so you will getting a lot of value through the glazing of the building.
The single door opens up to 73.25 cm in width.
Security and privacy
There is a turn button supplied with the building, and you can also opt to purchase padlock and padlock protector kits from the manufacturer. The styrene does go a long way, however, to making the building a safer unit overall.
There are plenty of customisation options here. You can choose your base for the building, for example. We were particularly pleased to see that you have the option of purchasing guttering.
If you work hard at planning your building and the requirements you have to meet, you should be able to find that you can customise the building to have even more value overall.
The cladding is not the best in the world, but if you work to get some of the customisation options into the equation, you should find that you can put together a high-quality building. As an entry-level building without customisation, it needs a bit of work.
Longevity Of Materials 7/10
Longevity-wise, the cladding doesn’t help. But there are some good aspects, and as it happens, you can bring some of these aspects in through customisation. Guttering will help, for example, as will choosing a good solid base.
We found that this building was capable of providing ample space for any storage that the average gardener would need.
Ease Of Installation 9/10
You can install this building on your own, but put aside a day to do so. If there are two of you, it should take significantly less time.
As an entry-level building, you do get quite a lot for your money. But we think you’ll find that you’ll opt for customisation so that you get even more value. As it stands, it’s kind of middle of the road, and it is only really saved by the price.
Final Thoughts: You can’t fault this building as an entry-level model. But it does require plenty of customisation to get the building you need. However, the price is a big factor, and it makes all of the problems easier to swallow.
