WhatShed review guarantee

We’ve reviewed lots of Duramax sheds in all shapes and sizes, and we’re invariably impressed by their build quality, durability, and affordability. It’s a winning combination, so it’s little surprise to us that Duramax have become one of the most popular manufacturers of plastic garden sheds and garages in the UK today. With a wide range to choose from, WhatShed have created this handy guide to the very best Duramax sheds that can be bought online in the UK right now, so that you can make the choice that’s right for your garden.

At WhatShed we review garden buildings of every variety and from all major manufacturers, so we knew what to look for when selecting the best Duramax sheds for our top ten league table. We also wanted to ensure that they were easy to find for the consumer, so we’ve only considered the models sold by the ten leading online retailers who between them sell over 95% of all garden buildings purchased via the internet in this country.  more...

For the purposes of this league table we’ve looked at the plastic range of sheds that bear the Duramax name, even though the same manufacturer also makes the high quality Store More range of metal sheds. We’ve then compared prices and overall value for money relative to their storage capacity, and also looked at the warranty periods supplied with them, and their overall aesthetic appeal.

As the high quality on display throughout this league table shows, Duramax sheds have a lot going for them in terms of value for money and durability. These are qualities epitomised by the eight foot by eight foot DuraMate shed. With a 15 year warranty and an asking price of less than six hundred pounds, it gains the number one spot in our very competitive list of the best Duramax sheds that can be bought online in the UK today. Whether you want superior plastic sheds, or traditional wooden storage sheds, WhatShed bring you the independent reviews that can help you make a perfect purchase.

8' x 8' Saffron Plastic Vinyl Apex Shed (Includes Foundation Kit and Skylight) (2.39m x 2.39m)

In many respects, an eight foot by eight foot shed, such as this, is an ideal size for small to medium gardens. It’s large enough to hold a lawn mower or two, as well as a large selection of gardening tools and equipment, and yet it won’t take up too much room from the lawn itself. This, then, is a shed that will appeal to a wide range of people, especially as it comes at a very reasonable price of less than six hundred pounds. Added value is provided by a 15 year warranty, which is as long as we’ve seen given with any of the Duramax sheds we’ve reviewed, and this durability and value for money is enough to gain this Duramate shed the top position in our league table.

This apex roofed plastic shed is completely ivory coloured, unlike some of the other Duramax sheds in this top ten guide, and so we feel it will fit in very well with garden environments that already have a lot of white PVC elements in them such as conservatories or rooflines. We also liked the double doors, which with an opening width of 1.52m make it very easy to move wider or bulkier objects in or out. If you want a good value garden shed that will last for years and years without any maintenance being necessary, then this could be a perfect choice.

4' x 6' Palram Grey Skylight Plastic Shed (1.21m x 1.77m)

This is one of the smaller Duramax sheds that we’ve reviewed, but that makes it particularly suitable to those people who have a smaller garden where every inch of space counts. It has a base area of 1.19 x 1.80m, and an apex roof which climbs up to a peak height of 1.90m. Despite these compact dimensions, you can fit more inside than you might imagine particularly if a shelving unit is installed. What takes this shed to second place in our Duramax league table, however, is the excellent value for money this shed provides. For approximately three hundred pounds it’s now possible to have a durable and weather resistant shed that comes with a long lasting 15 year warranty.

We were pleased to see that just because this is a small garden building, the manufacturer hasn’t cut back on the quality that they’re renowned for. In fact, this has two added features which we don’t see in many other Duramax sheds, and which could prove very useful. Firstly, there’s an integral floor which can help to protect any items stored at surface level from the threat of ground moisture. We also liked the inclusion of a small square window on a side panel; this is unique to this particular model and means that the interior is well illuminated with natural light on a sunny day.

8' x 5'3" Saffron Plastic Vinyl Apex Shed (Includes Foundation Kit and Skylight) (2.39m x 1.6m)

This is a much more spacious example of the Woodside models of Duramax shed, but as it also costs significantly more this accounts for its relative placing compared to the runner up in our league table. Nevertheless we still feel that it represents good value for money when compared with many other sheds of a similar size, particularly as this also comes with the reassurance of a 15 year manufacturer’s guarantee.

If you’re looking for a durable mid sized shed, but don’t like the idea of having anything too plastic taking a central position in your garden, then this could change your mind. We think it’s very pleasing on the eye, with its off white walls contrasting nicely with the dark brown of the double doors and apex roof. The walls are arranged in a shiplap style, which means that water is carried quickly and safely away. This feat is also achieved by the apex roof which reaches up to a peak height of 2.20m with an eaves height of 1.85m, or just over six feet. This means that the interior will likely feel spacious and comfortable, and you won’t have to bend down too much when walking around inside, or when entering through the wide opening double doors.

8' x 5'3" Saffron Plastic Vinyl Apex Shed (Includes Foundation Kit and Skylight) (2.39m x 1.6m)

This is the third of the Woodside models to feature in the top half of our league table of the very best Duramax sheds. One of the reasons that this particular range scores so highly is that the sheds are much more aesthetically pleasing than we often see with plastic sheds from other manufacturers. The use of brown PVC in areas, to contrast with the beige colour of the main body, brings to mind timber sheds, and this is a theme that’s repeated with the shiplap walls and the apex roof. We found the roof particularly attractive, as it has a highly decorative shingled effect. This is a plastic shed that we feel will not look out of place in any garden, and which could become a much loved garden feature in its own right.

With a 15 year manufacturer’s warranty included, this should retain its good looks for many years to come, especially as we were pleased to find that high quality PVC cladding had been used that is UV resistant and so won’t discolour or fade with the passing of time. There’s one fixed window included as standard, and there are also ventilation panels built into shed, which is an essential aid in the fight against condensation on hot or cold days. This six foot by six foot model is very much mid sized, but as it comes with a relatively small price tag we feel it has a lot to recommend it.

8' x 10' Suncast New Tremont Three Apex Roof Plastic Garden Storage Shed (2.43m x 3.11m)

This is the first of the large scale Duramax sheds to make it into our league table, and for a base area of ten foot by eight foot it offers very good value for money at an asking price of only a fraction more than seven hundred pounds. It’s this that gains it a place in the top half of our list, along with the good looks that we associate with the Woodside range of sheds, and the reassurance and added value that comes from a guarantee which lasts for 15 years.

If you’re used to having wooden sheds in your garden, then these double doored Duramax sheds have a lot to recommend them. With their PVC vinyl cladding, you won’t have to worry about the threat of rot, rust or insect attack. This also means that you won’t have to spend time and money treating and maintaining this shed on an annual basis, which can add up to a considerable saving when compared to a timber counterpart. It’s also much stronger than you might imagine, thanks to a tough galvanised steel frame. Once assembled itshould feel very stable and sturdy, and the assembly process itself should be quick and straight forward.

4' x 8' Saffron Lean To Plastic Vinyl Shed (1.21m x 2.39m)

The Sidemate has a look and design that’s completely different to any of the other Duramax sheds we’ve reviewed in that it is a lean-to shed, rather than being a stand alone garden building underneath an apex roof. This means that it’s very space saving, which makes it a good choice for those who have very limited room on their lawn. Unlike some lean-to sheds we’ve seen this one does have a back, which we were pleased to see as it makes the structure as a whole seem more stable and secure. It gains extra strength and weather protection from the wall that it’s positioned again, so this is a very useful design if your garden is in an exposed area that is often subject to strong winds.

One slight disadvantage of a lean-to pent shed such as this is that it can feel a little restricted inside when compared to other Duramax sheds. This has been taken into consideration when determining its final position within our league table, but there’s still plenty of room to store a selection of tools and equipment inside, safe from the elements. Once again, we were pleased to find that this shed is given the added protection and added reassurance of a 15 year guarantee.

8' x 10' Suncast New Tremont Three Apex Roof Plastic Garden Storage Shed (2.43m x 3.11m)

The DuraMate range of Duramax sheds feature an all white PVC cladding that has a luxuriously contemporary look. We appreciate that it won’t appeal to everybody, by which we mean people who prefer traditional timber buildings in the garden, but it’s a great choice for those who have busy lifestyles and who want a highly useful shed that they can simply install and then not have to do anything else with.

We would have liked to see this large shed come with a 15 year guarantee, as we find with most of the Duramax sheds we review, and this accounts for its position in the lower half of our top ten league table. We wouldn’t let that put you off however, as with a strong galvanised steel frame that’s been topped by PVC vinyl cladding we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see this far surpass its warranty period without any problems becoming apparent. One thing we particularly liked about this shed is that it has a translucent roof panel which acts as a skylight. This creates a well lit and yet secure environment, as passers by can’t see into the shed to ascertain whether anything valuable is being kept inside; this can be an effective deterrent against opportune thieves.

6' x 3' Palram Grey Skylight Plastic Shed (1.85m x 0.9m)

We move now from the second largest of the Duramax sheds in our top ten league table to the very smallest, and yet we were glad to find that there had been no compromise or corner cutting when it came to quality. With a base area of 1.73 x 0.97 this won’t take up too much lawn space, and it’s also very lightweight and so easy to assemble. Because of its double doors that take up the whole of the frontage, however, it is very easy to move items in and out, so you can make full use of the space that is available.

Whilst this shed can provide the perfect storage solution for a small garden, its compact footprint actually adds to its versatility in our opinion. Like all of the Duramax sheds, its PVC cladding is fire retardant, and this means that it will comply with the fire safety regulations typically employed by camping and caravan parks. Because of its portability you can take it away with you when you go camping, or assemble it on site for a permanent solution. With a 15 year warranty provided by the manufacturer as well, you won’t have to worry about the potentially damaging effect of sea air.

11' x 9' Palram Yukon Dark Grey Skylight Plastic Shed (3.33m x 2.71m)

If you were to buy a well constructed and very strong ten foot by ten foot shed made out of wood you might well expect to pay upwards of a thousand pounds, but one of the advantages of Duramax sheds is that they make their superior quality plastic sheds in this size available for just a little bit more than eight hundred pounds. This Duramate Woodbridge model also has wide double hinged doors that have a width of 1.52m and a height of 1.81m. We’re used to reviewing sheds where some people may have to bend down when walking in and out, so we were pleased that this isn’t required on this occasion.

An ivory white is the only colour on display here, and yet the shiplap effect walls, and tile effect roof mean that we found it anything but boring to look at. Its clean lines give it a stylish and contemporary feel, but whilst this may need a hose down every once in a while to keep the shed in pristine condition it won’t need any other maintenance during the 10 year period that its warranty is in force, and probably beyond. These Duramax sheds can be a smart and cost effective choice for a medium to large sized garden.

8' x 10' Saffron Plastic Vinyl Apex Shed (Includes Foundation Kit and Skylight) (2.39m x 3.19m)

This is the largest model to feature within our guide to the ten best Duramax sheds that are available to buy online in the UK today, with a base area of 3.19 x 3.98m and a tall apex roof that reaches a height of 2.16m. Duramax do make even larger garden buildings than this, but since those are primarily designed to be garages they haven’t been considered for this league table. With a price of nearly a thousand pounds this is also the most expensive shed in our list, which accounts for its position at the foot of our list. If you want a large and durable garden building, however, and can afford the asking price then this deserves to go to the very top of your shortlist.

This Woodbridge model shares a lot of traits in common with the very best Duramax sheds, in that it has a galvanised steel frame with vinyl cladding that is maintenance free and covered by a 15 year warranty. Being so large, however, it also becomes very versatile. This could be used for the storage of motorcycles, for example, or with the addition of an optional window it could even be used as a tough workshop for either hobby or home operated business purposes.
