The Forest 8×10 Shed Shiplap Workshop certainly does have that classic shed look, but its large spacious design is what gives it its workshop name. While this is called a workshop, the large amount of space that it offers would make for a fantastic storage shed as well. The floor space and the headroom on offer here really is impressive. The workshop is also very easy on the eyes. With smooth cladding, vertically clad doors and four large fixed windows, this is a workshop that really will look great in any garden that it is placed in. Those four windows will also ensure that plenty of light gets inside.
This is one of the better made 8 x 10 workshops you will see. The cladding is not just nice to look at, it is also watertight and a very impressive 12 mm thick. This, along with the frame it is attached to, make the workshop a very strong and long lasting structure. The flooring is one of the most impressive parts of the whole workshop. At 16 mm thick this floor is so strong that you can pretty much place anything you want in here and the floor will not struggle to take it.

Let's Take a Closer Look...
Shed Type And Roof Size
Here we have the Forest 8×10 Shed Shiplap Workshop which is a workshop that really does have a classic shed kind of style to it. This is being marketed as a workshop, but it works just as well as a shed. This workshop offers you plenty of room to make use of. It is just over 8 feet wide and a very impressive, 10 feet deep. This gives you a lot of floor space to make use of. It makes this a structure that is ideal for not just garden storage, but also as a workspace as you could easily fit in shelving, workbenches and so on in here. Along the ridge, the workshop stands at 7 feet 1 inch high, so you have a very nice amount of headroom inside. This is great for a workshop as it makes it much more comfortable to spend long periods of time in here.
The apex roof certainly gets the job done, but if we are being honest it is probably the least impressive part of the workshop. It is made with 8 mm thick solid sheet boarding and covered with weatherproof felt. We are not putting the roof down as this is the standard kind of roof for most sheds and workshops of this size, but when the rest of the workshop is so well made and high quality it does stand out a little bit.
Cladding, Frame And Floor
The Forest 8×10 Shed Shiplap Workshop has some very attractive cladding. It is 12 mm thick tongue and groove shiplap cladding. It has a great look and the way the boards are interlocked together will make it impossible for rain or the wind to get in the workshop. With the cladding being so thick and packed together so tightly, it really will give the workshop a solid feel.
Keeping the whole structure together is a 28 mm x 28 mm frame. This is a good sized frame that is strong and will keep the workshop solid for its entire life. With this kind of frame you also do not have to worry about it sticking out too much and eating into your storage space. The frame is very well made and is kind of the unsung hero of the workshop.
We honestly could not be any more impressed with the floor that they have put in here. They call it a square boarded floor, but it is just the same in style and strength as a tongue and groove floor and we love it. This is a floor that is made to take a lot of weight. It is 16 mm thick and it makes this structure able to take the weight of lots of items. It will also feel really solid under your feet when you are walking around the workshop. We really do have to give them a big thumbs up for going the extra mile with this floor.
Treatment Requirement And Warranty
The shed is only protected with a dip treatment. This is ok for the short term, but shortly after you have constructed the Forest 8×10 Shed Shiplap Workshop you will have to give it a coating of wood treatment. This will keep the smooth looking cladding smooth and protect against rot. It is important to note that you will need to give it a fresh coating on an annual basis to really make sure it is protected against rot and decay. . The ten year guarantee that this workshop comes with will cover you against rot and decay. While this is a good guarantee, it is important that you know this guarantee is only valid as long as you look after the workshop.
Doors And Windows
Right on the front of the workshop is a very impressive set of double doors. These doors are 5 feet 3 inches high and 3 feet 6 inches wide, which is more than enough room to get even the most awkwardly large items in and out. The doors are very well made and supported with double z framing and strong hidden hinges to really make sure they are strong and never become weak as the years go by. On the front of the doors they have used this very smart vertical cladding, which we really like the look of.
Along one side of the workshop are four fixed windows. These windows are made with 1.5 mm thick styrene and will really let natural light flood into the workshop. This is a very generous amount of windows and we really like the size of them as they do give the workshop a bit more personality.
Security And Privacy
The Forest 8×10 Shed Shiplap Workshop is one very well made workshop, but it does not actually come with a lock on those large double doors. They have, though, included a hasp and staple, so adding a padlock is very easy and cheap to do.
As there are four windows along one side of the workshop, the level of privacy you get with it really does depend on where you place it in your garden. If you place it facing the neighbours then as the windows are so large it would be easy for them to peek inside. If privacy is something that concerns you, then we suggests you consider adding some blinds or even a curtain.
Customisation Options And Extras
The retailer offering the workshop does not have any customisation options listed, but if you did want to change the look a little bit then consider using coloured wood treatment. This is a great way to not only protected that smooth looking cladding, but also give the workshop a bit more of a brighter or darker appearance.
They do have a few extras to consider – first of all is their £4.99 hasp, staple and padlock set. This is a good price, but as the workshop already has a hasp and staple, you would be better off just buying a padlock from your local pound store. They also offer a Rain Saver Gutter Kit for £54.99. This is kind of cool. The idea is that it collects rain, while protecting the side of your workshop and then you can use the rain to water your plants. If you do not want to install your workshop directly on the ground then they do offer a Pro Shed Base. This is actually very reasonably priced at £49.99 and well worth thinking about if you have some concerns over the area on which you will be installing the shed.
So, How Does It All Stack Up?
This is one very well made workshop and the cladding and floor especially are impressive. The roof is the only thing that we feel that could have done a little better on, but in all honesty this is a very minor complaint.
Longevity Of Materials9/10
As long as you make sure to look after the wood then we are sure that you will get a lifetime of use out of this workshop. It is very thick and strong so it really is designed to last.
You have plenty of room inside this workshop. It would make for a great place to work. At the same time, though, it also would be great as a place for general storage.
Ease Of Installation8.5/10
This is a pretty good sized workshop, so you will want to make sure you have another person helping out. We do not see anything here that will make this any more awkward than installing any other 8 x 10 shed.
Value For Money8.5/10
While there are lower priced 8 x 10 sheds on the market, this workshop is very high quality, offers lots of space and has a great design. We really do feel that it is actually a very fairly priced shed.
Final Thoughts: The Forest 8x10 Shed Shiplap Workshop is one very impressive structure. It has a very classic shed style, but it is made with some very modern, strong and long lasting materials. The cladding and frame are very strong so the workshop will last for many years as long as you treat it right. Then you have the floor, which at 16 mm thick is some of the thickest and strongest flooring we have seen in quite some time. This strong flooring will not only be able to handle a lot of weight, it will also feel good as you are pottering around the workshop. It may be priced a little higher than some other similarly sized workshops, but we do feel it is worth the extra money.
