Base material: metal

Our experts say this has 1 stand out feature. A stand out feature is something found on over 70% of the top 10% of products in a particular category or is an exceptionally good feature as rated by our panel of experts.

1. The metal cladding used on this greenhouse is one the best available for greenhouses rated by our experts.

Below is a brief overview of how some of the key points of this greenhouse fairs across the market.

Guarantee

On a metal greenhouse, the guarantee that the manufacturer offers is usually a very good indicator of the quality of the building. The longer the guarantee the more the manufacturer believes in the quality of the building they have produced. Typically we see manufacturer guarantees for metal Greenhouses ranging from zero right up to a 15 years guarantee.

This metal greenhouse comes with a 5 years guarantee. Most metal greenhouse come with a 5 years guarantee (52.56% of them) [2].

For this particular brand (Palram) they offer 6 [3] different types of guarantees on their metal greenhouses, with the 5 years guarantee on this being the only they offer. The 5 years guarantee is found on 66.67% of Palram metal greenhouses [4]. It is great that this greenhouse was given one of the highest guarantees offered by the brand, and this shows the manufacturer has a lot of faith in the overall quality of this part of their product range.

When looking at comparable 6′ x 6′ metal greenhouses (we found 71 of them) the most popular guarantee length offered by manufacturers was 10 years [5]. 60.56% came with a missing guarantee, 14.08% came with a 10 year guarantee, 12.68% came with a 5 year guarantee, 7.04% came with a 12 year guarantee, 2.82% came with a 15 year guarantee, 1.41% came with a 1 year guarantee and 1.41% came with a 7 year guarantee.

1. Polyethylene: Polyethylene (Low Density) LDPE, LLDPE is not commonly used for the construction of garden buildings or storage units. The most common use for LDPE is in the thin film used to cover poly tunnels.

According to data from the British Plastics Fedaration the physical properties of Polyethylene (Low Density) are that it is not very good when exposed to high heat with a maximum continuous use temperature of 65 °C. This is however offset by the outstanding Notched Impact Strength data that showed ‘no break’.
