Over the years, we’ve physically inspected well over one hundred Tiger buildings, including summerhouses, retreats, corner models, workshops, and sheds that use the same core construction system as this one. We’ve walked their floors, pressed against their walls, examined their joinery, measured deflection, assessed glazing methods after bad weather, and seen how these buildings age once the initial gloss has worn off.

So what follows is a confident, experience-based assessment grounded in repeated, hands-on exposure to Tiger’s materials and build methods — with one clearly stated caveat where direct inspection hasn’t yet occurred.

When we carry out our usual checks — walking the footprint, applying central load, and measuring deflection — movement is minimal. There’s no springiness, no hollow sound, and no sense that the floor is working harder than it should.

The walls tell a similar story. Tiger’s shiplap is well milled, tightly fitted, and made from slow-grown timber with a density you can feel. We’ve consistently noted the number of fixings used — more than many competitors — which contributes to the rigidity you notice when you lean against a wall and nothing gives.

The roof construction deserves special mention. Tongue-and-groove boards age far more gracefully than OSB, particularly in the British climate. They tolerate moisture better, resist swelling, and maintain their integrity over time when paired with proper felt and annual treatment.

Even the published weights reinforce this picture. Depending on size, this summerhouse weighs between approximately 250 kg and nearly 390 kg. What it isn’t — and doesn’t pretend to be — is a fully insulated, year-round office without upgrades. With 12mm cladding, you’ll feel the cold in winter unless you add heating or insulation. That’s not a flaw; it’s an honest reflection of what this building is designed to do.

Used for what it’s intended for, it succeeds very well.

The Long View: Maintenance & Ownership Reality

Tiger supply their buildings pre-treated, but like all quality timber structures, annual treatment matters. Buyers who skip this step often blame the building when issues arise — unfairly.

Properly maintained, the materials used here should age predictably and gracefully. The joiner-made windows, in particular, reduce one of the most common long-term weak points in glazed garden buildings.

This is not a disposable structure. It’s a building designed to be lived with, maintained, and appreciated over time.

Tiger have taken their already dependable 12mm summerhouse platform and addressed one of the few remaining vulnerability points with a genuinely meaningful upgrade to the glazing system. That change alone elevates this model beyond many visually similar alternatives.

Would we like to inspect it in person?
