You’re bound to fall in love with this high quality, durable little shed. It has become one of the most popular models sold by the Shed Store and it really isn’t hard to see why. A spacious interior and stylish design make it suitable for any garden. It comes with all felt, fixings and instructions needed for self-assembly.
The extra-wide double doors are one of the most practical and great benefits of this shed. You will struggle to find a similar size building that offers such easy and spacious access. It makes storing absolutely anything a breeze and they also comes with a good quality pad bolt.
There is also a high quality window included with this model. Typically you’ll find sheds come with styrene glazed windows. This one however is glazed with top quality Horticultural glazing. You can open the window and it locks securely when not in use.
Another exclusive benefit is the tongue and groove floor. A lot of sheds supplied by the Shed Store have Shiplap tongue and groove walls. However, they rarely benefit from the same quality floor too. This makes it an excellent choice for use as a workshop, as well as general storage. It also means you can store heavy equipment and large boxes.

Let's Take a Closer Look...
The Arran, Shire Double Door Garden Shed is a fantastically built storage facility that is suitable for light to heavyweight storage. It could also easily be turned into a small workshop, with an openable window, strong floor and double door access making it more comfortable to work in. It isn’t the largest shed available, but it can still comfortably hold large gardening equipment, including a ride on lawnmower.
Ridge height – 7’0”
Eaves height – 5’9”
Opening door height – 5’7”
Opening door width – 4’6”
Depth including overhang – 6’0”
Width including overhang – 6’5”
If you’re taller than average, you may find getting into the shed a little inconvenient. However, once inside there is plenty of room to manoeuvre. At 7’0”, you can stand tall without worrying about knocking your head on the roof. What’s super-impressive about the measurements of this building is the width of the doors. They open out over four feet, giving you an exemplary amount of space to get things inside and out of the building. They take up almost the entire width of the shed, providing a generously spacious entry point.
Roof and Floor
An apex roof is what provides so much interior height and it also promises a very good level of water resistance. Covered in mineral felt, it is protected against debris and rainwater. It isn’t like a lot of other apex roofs either. The roof has more of a gradual slope, which means you benefit from more interior height throughout the entire width of the shed, rather than just in the centre. It doesn’t really matter that it is created from solid sheet material. We find this is actually pretty durable for the roof and only ever really poses a problem when used on the floor.
Speaking of the floor, it is made from high quality tongue and groove cladding. Just like the walls, it measures 12mm thick, giving a superb solid finish and ensuring you can store literally whatever you want. You don’t have to worry about the weight of your storage so it is particularly recommended for those looking for a shed to keep heavy machinery or equipment inside.
Cladding and Frame
It’s fantastic to find this shed doesn’t just come with a supreme quality wall cladding, but an extra strong frame too. Built with Shiplap tongue and groove, the exterior of this shed is impeccable. It is the most expensive style of cladding used on wooden sheds and this is reflected in the slightly increased cost. The timber panels have an indentation in the centre which captures rainwater and channels it down off the shed. It reduces the possibility of water seeping into the wood; reducing the chances of it warping and ensuring the interior stays dry.
It also has the familiar benefits of tongue and groove. Most people will be familiar with this design from laminate flooring. The wooden panels come with built in grooves at one side and tongues at the other. They then quickly slot together, forming a secure, tight interlocked design. This boosts the claddings weatherproof abilities as well as making installation easier. That’s not the only benefit either. Though it cannot be seen, there is an expansion gap added to the walls to protect the structure of the shed if the timber warps. In comparison to overlap, this style of cladding has a very limited chance of warping in extreme weather conditions. However, it isn’t 100% guaranteed not to warp. So you can rest assured it will not cause problems with the shed’s stability if changes do occur.
Most sheds we review use the standard 28mm x 28mm framework. The manufacturers have decided to be a little different here however. Instead you’ll find 34mm x 34mm framing. This means the overall structural stability is amazing in comparison to other models.
Shed Store recommend annual treatments, though it has been dip coated before shipping. The dip treatment can save you money for the first year of the shed’s life as it protects the surface of the timber. However, for pure reassurance purposes we’d still advise treating it once you have put it up.
The good news is you can get away with using a good quality water treatment. These are less expensive, though they do only protect the surface of the wood just like the dip treatment. This isn’t an issue if you’re willing to maintain annual treatments. If you’d prefer to extend the treatments to every other year however, we’d recommend spirit treatments as they work inside and on the surface of the wood.
Doors and Windows
Both the doors and the window are uniquely designed compared to competitor sheds. Firstly the double doors come with an incredibly wide design. Generally speaking, double doors do open out to present a high level of access. However, these doors are wider than average. The size of them can’t be beaten in terms of providing easy entry for all kinds of equipment and tools. There is one thing we are disappointed with though and that is the un-braced design. Bracing increases the quality of a door and protects it from sagging over time. There is less chance of this happening due to the tongue and groove construction. However it still would have been a good feature to maintain its premium quality design. A pad bolt closes the doors securely when the shed isn’t in use and will also allow a strong padlock to be fitted.
The horticultural glazing and opening feature of the window is what also sets it apart from other sheds. Although, this isn’t as impressive as it sounds. If you’re not familiar with the different types of glazing, Horticultural glass is basically the lowest grade you can invest in. This means it is known to come with blemishes and marks. As it isn’t shatterproof, it isn’t as safe as styrene glazing so this is something you will have to think about if you have small children. It does provide a slightly thicker glazing, helping to insulate the shed in cold weather. However, due to its size you are unlikely to be spending a lot of time inside the building anyway.
Security and Privacy
The only real security feature of the shed is its tough cladding. The exterior walls are basically burglary proof and even with a crowbar, thieves will be there quite a long time trying to break through. Apart from that however, the security is pretty poor. A pad bolt on the double doors lets you install a padlock. Though as a padlock is not provided, this does mean you end up spending a little more money than anticipated.
The window is also going to be easier to break than toughened glass. So to improve both the buildings security and privacy, you should install some type of window covering. Shiplap clad walls can take nails, shelving and hooks being hammered into them. So this gives you the perfect opportunity to add any type of covering you want – even heavy curtains.
Customisation Options and Extras
Normally we’d be a little surprised by the lack of customisation options and extras available. However, taking into account that this shed has an outstanding design with many brilliant features, it is understandable the Shed Store don’t feel the need to highlight many additional options. Saying that, we do feel they have missed a pretty important extra off the list and that is a padlock.
With many of the sheds they supply, a top quality alarm padlock, as well as a Yale alarm system is offered as an extra. So we’re a little confused as to why they haven’t added those to their suggested list of upgrades here. Though the shed is made from superior quality cladding, it still doesn’t come with much security. The door has a pad bolt, but this will only keep it shut, not lock it. It’s not hard to find a good choice of padlocks and security if you browse the manufacturer site, but it would have been a lot more convenient if Shed Store would have added them to the extras section.
So what does the manufacturer advise you add to the building? Well the only extra offered is a wooden base with adjustable spikes. As extras go, this is actually pretty well recommended. Even with such a high quality shed, you will have problems with stability unless you build it on top of a solid base. There are actually quite a few bases available and this is one of the more expensive options. It is still cheaper than a concrete base and it’s worth noting that the benefits are well worth the cost. The adjustable spikes make this base unique and allow you to install them wherever they will best fit into the ground.
Though the base is the only extra offered, Shed Store do offer some suggestions on things you may find useful. These include a very good tool rack which can hold 30 different size tools and a high quality plastic wheelbarrow.
So, How Does It All Stack Up?
Although there are a few small niggles with the quality of the shed, the fact it uses tongue and groove cladding throughout is a brilliant advantage.
Longevity Of materials8/10
The only part of this shed that isn’t guaranteed to last for a long period of time is the roofing felt. So a little extra money spent on upgrading this will improve its overall longevity.
This is a small storage shed so you aren’t going to be able to get a lot into it. However, saying that it will comfortably store a ride-on lawnmower as shown in the picture. You just won’t be able to fit much else in with it. However its compact size makes it a great addition in small gardens and provides an excellent space-saving storage solution.
Ease of installation8/10
This shed is very quick to install, estimating around 2-4 hours. Instructions are detailed and simple to understand and everything you actually require to assemble the shed is provided.
Value for money9/10
As the shed is offered at a low cost, you benefit from fantastic value for money. Though some features could potentially be improved, we feel you are getting more than your money’s worth with this building.
Final Thoughts: What’s not to love about this exclusive shed? It is made to an extraordinary standard, offering a lot of great features that you won’t find on many competitor buildings. We love that it comes with a tongue and groove floor and Horticultural glazed window. The fact you can actually open the window and let fresh air into the shed is another practical and comfortable benefit. Unlike a lot of competitor sheds of a similar size, this can be used as a workshop, though you may need to invest in a power source if you plan on using power tools or workshop machinery. All in all it’s a great shed which we do really recommend.
