This 6 x 6 Waltons windowless shiplap tongue and groove clad shed is a great little building. It has double doors which open up wide, enabling you to enter the building with ease. The shiplap cladding provides a great shield against rainwater damage which is a nice, reassuring feature.
The timber is also quite special. It has been planed and rounded so you have both an exterior and interior that is tough enough to stand up to most wear and tear. In other words, it is a compact and durable shed that provides you with great value for money.

Let's Take a Closer Look...
Shed Type and Roof Size
This is a small exceptional quality Shiplap tongue and groove wooden garden shed. The roof boasts a traditional and exemplary apex roof, adding both great interior height and protection against rot and damp. When water hits the roof, it automatically runs down the sloped edges and falls onto the ground. This unique design minimises the chances of large amounts of rain water coming into contact with the side of the building. It is also covered with a heavy duty felt which manages to not only protect against rain water, but also against debris damage.
One of the benefits of the shed is the height of the eaves at 1.64m. The roof also measures 2.13m high, ensuring you have plenty of headroom on the interior of the shed. In depth the shed measures 1.83m and in width it measures 1.82m. This compact size makes it an ideal choice for any home. The double doors measure 1.09m in width and 1.73m in height, providing easy access to the interior.
Cladding, Frame and Floor
Made with Shiplap tongue and groove cladding, the building comes with excellent natural protection against both wear and tear and weather damage. The construction of Shiplap cladding also makes it easy to install. The boards simply slot together just like they do in laminate flooring. Tongue and groove design cladding also provides additional benefits such as the expansion gap left behind. This small gap helps to support any changes that occur in the timber over the years. Shiplap cladding is only ever featured on high-end buildings and it comes at a pretty high cost. However, due to its superb strength, it is also difficult to damage which means thieves won’t be able to break it down very easily.
Waltons haven’t just ensured the outside of the building is designed to a high standard; they have also made sure the internal structure of the building is also incredibly strong. They have done with via extra thick planed and rounded framing. This is a unique detail that isn’t found on many sheds of this size. It basically ensures you have a structurally stable and durable shed that will last for many years.
Another thing that impressed us is the fact that this shed comes with a 12mm tongue and groove floor. This again is a unique feature as most sheds, even those made with Shiplap cladding walls, tend to feature a solid sheet board for the flooring. They then often need to be strengthened with an additional support pack. The floor on this building doesn’t require any additional support. This means while the initial cost of the building is higher than a lot of other 6×6 sheds, you are actually saving money by not having to upgrade it.
Treatment Requirements and Warranty
Despite its extremely sturdy and durable design, this shed does still need to be treated. It is always recommended to use a spirit based treatment rather than a water based one on Shiplap sheds. This is because rather than simply protecting the timber’s surface, the spirit based treatments work a lot deeper into the material. This ensures an effective barrier is in place both on the inside as well as the outside of the timber.
The only thing to remember is that while spirit treatments are better, they don’t give you a lot of colour choice. If you aren’t a fan of the unpainted design, you may want to paint the shed. You can decide to use a coloured water based treatment as well as a spirit based one, but you need to be aware that the colour won’t turn out as good as it would if using just a water based variety.
Waltons gives you a 10 year anti-rot guarantee on this shed, although there are terms and conditions in place. The main one is that prior to assembly, or shortly after, you will need to use a spirit based treatment. You will also need to continue the treatments in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Doors and Windows
There aren’t any windows included with the shed so this does give you a lot of privacy. This is mainly a feature you should look out for if you need to store anything of value in the building. The lack of windows in larger sheds can present a problem as there won’t be any natural light and an electrical pack may need to be fitted. However, as this is a small shed the lighting shouldn’t be an issue.
It seems this shed is full of surprises as it also benefits from double doors. It isn’t often you find a small shed that comes with such a wide entry point. Single doors are often adequate enough, but with bulky items you can end up struggling to get them into the shed without injuring yourself in the process. The wide entry point in this shed means you will no longer struggle to transport items either in or out of the building.
Security and Privacy
There are some pretty great security features on this shed. Firstly it is fitted with a standard Rim lock. Now this isn’t the most secure lock you can buy, but it does provide a good level of security. Then there’s the benefit of the actual cladding which as mentioned earlier, is going to be difficult for thieves to break through.
The added privacy due to the windowless feature also adds to the security of the shed. As the contents are unable to be seen from outside, there is a lesser risk that anyone will be tempted to break in.
Customisation Options and Extras
While the shed certainly doesn’t need much in the way of improvements, it is still worth being aware of the extras and customisation options available. Superior duty felt is the only customisation option you could really benefit from. In a charcoal colour, this fiberglass material doesn’t need adhesive to be installed and it provides even more protection than the heavy duty felt included with the shed.
The other customisation option isn’t really needed. The extra strength floor support pack is mainly useful for sheds that have a solid sheet board floor. Besides, Waltons also give away a free floor support pack with the building so you can upgrade its strength a little if you want to without spending any additional money.
As for extras, the one we do recommend is the Waltons 6×6 Portabase. Important not to be used as a replacement floor, this base basically makes sure you assemble the shed on a nice, even surface. It is slightly on the expensive side but the cost is definitely worthwhile. Not only does it improve stability, but it also raises the building off the ground, reducing the risk of rot and water damage on the floor.
Another extra worth investing in is the 49mm padlock with staple and hasp. This has a weatherproof design and features double locking benefits. It will help to make sure the shed is totally secure.
So, How Does It All Stack Up?
What can we say about the quality of this shed other than it is truly exceptional? We’ve found it difficult finding anything wrong with the design of the building. So if you’re looking for quality, this is the shed for you.
Longevity Of Materials7.8/10
The materials of the shed are highly durable and should last for many years without problems. However, you do need to treat the shed with a high quality preservative. Without it the materials wouldn’t last as long.
It may be a small size shed, but it does allow you to hang items from the walls and put up internal shelving. You can’t do this with overlap cladding sheds so this is a big advantage as it enhances the amount of space available.
Ease Of Installation7.5/10
If you choose to build this shed by yourself rather than take advantage of Walton’s installation service, you shouldn’t find it too difficult. Its size makes it quite easy to put together by yourself, though it is recommended you enlist the help of at least one other person. Instructions are simple and the panels will slot together really easily.
Value For Money7.7/10
We feel the higher cost of the shed is outweighed by its overall value for money. As it is made from durable materials and it comes with extra thick framing, the building is going to last a lot longer than the cheaper sheds of this size. It also comes with great security and privacy features which also add to its value.
Final Thoughts: This has been one of our favourite sheds so far. Its size, durability and value for money make it an excellent choice for everyone. It is a very high quality building and though it does require treatments, the peace of mind you get from the 10 year anti-rot guarantee is worth the additional cost. The potential to add shelving also increases the amount of storage space available and it offers excellent security and privacy.
