This is a small, secure, high quality tool shed that is perfectly designed to hold expensive power tools and gardening equipment. There are a lot of different sizes available in the Treetops Traditional pent tool store shed collection and this one offers a compact width with a slightly larger depth. Due to its short height, the shed isn’t really ideal for walking around in and it cannot be used for any other purpose other than tool storage.
Roof and Floor
One of our favourite features of this shed is that the floor and roof have been fully tongue and groove boarded. Measuring 12mm thick, the inside of the building is equally as impressive as the outside. As well as giving the shed increased stability and longevity, it also allows you to store pretty heavy equipment without the worry that it will damage the floor.
One of the signature features of this range is the pent roof. This roof design is used so that the building can be installed in height restricted areas. It also makes the installation of the shed easier if being placed next to or in front of another building.
Cladding, Frame and Treatment Requirements
DEAL Redwood 12mm PAR finished Shiplap tongue and groove cladding forms the walls of this impressive shed. This gives it a phenomenal solid and stylish look that will complement any garden. Shiplap is the best quality cladding used on wooden sheds and it is known for its extraordinary weather resistant benefits. As the timber is smooth, rain literally just runs right off the walls, preventing rot and other damp problems. There is also a more intricate weather resistant feature built into the timber itself. This comes in the form of a small indented channel. It prevents water from clinging on and soaking through the wood, therefore further boosting its water resistance.
Shed Store have dip treated the wood of this shed before it is shipped out. This basically means that the timber is protected against damage during shipping. It also means you can delay adding your own treatment for up to 6 weeks after you have erected the shed. After that first treatment, you will need to continue annual treatments.
Doors and Windows
The door of this shed is unique in that it can be customised in three ways. The cost of the building includes a single door that can be placed as it is displayed in the picture, or moved to the opposite gable. You can also spend a little extra money upgrading to 8’ double doors that will be placed on the low side of the shed. Obviously these double doors will provide a wider space to access the building. So think about the type of equipment you plan on storing and how much space you will need to get items in and out of the shed.
One thing you cannot customise is the windowless design. The manufacturer has left windows out of the construction of this tool shed in order to maximise its security.
Security and Privacy
It won’t be easy to find a more secure or private tool shed than this one. It is one of the main reasons why we highly rate this building. Unlike the majority of sheds out there, this one includes a built in lock that is operated via a key. This makes it more difficult to break into than a shed fitted with a padlock. No windows mean nothing that you store can be viewed from the outside of the shed. This makes it a perfect investment for those living in a crime prone area.
Customisation Options and Extras
There is one major customisation option available with this tool shed and that’s the doors. Switch the position of the single door or opt instead for double doors. There isn’t a lot of difference in terms of access space, but it allows you to customise the appearance of the shed.
Floor bearers are offered as an extra and we’d suggest investing in these to boost the sheds longevity. They keep the floor away from the damp and therefore prevent rot and fungus. Finally there is an installation service available though you don’t really need it due to how easy it is to self-assemble. It’s also pretty expensive so we’d recommend saving your money and building it yourself.
As you will see from the numerous customer reviews, this shed oozes quality. It is one of the most superior quality tool sheds we’ve ever reviewed and therefore it comes highly recommended.
Longevity Of materials
This shed can take a lot of wear and tear and it’s a great benefit to see tongue and groove used in the entire construction, rather than just on the exterior of the shed. It does need yearly treatments to keep up its substantial weatherproof protection however.
This is more of a mid-size tool shed which means you can store quite a lot of tools and equipment in here. However, you do need to keep the small width in mind if you are planning on storing anything particularly wide.
Ease of installation
One thing that customers regularly find with the majority of Treetops Traditional pent tool store sheds is that the instructions aren’t overly clear. However, the simplistic build makes up for this as it’s pretty easy to figure out what goes where.
Keeping in mind the quality, space provided and the stylish design of this tool shed, we feel you are getting incredible value. It is guaranteed to last for years and will withstand a lot of daily use.
Final Thoughts: Out of all of the tool sheds we have reviewed, the Treetops Traditional Pent Tool Shed is one of our favourites. The quality of this building is impressive. It is strong, durable, practical and secure. The thorough tongue and groove construction is fantastic, ensuring you can store any tools and equipment in here without having to worry about their weight. The door choices available are what really make this building stand out from the rest. Being able to select between a single or double door shed gives you more control over the look and practicality of the building. All in all this is an impressive tool shed that will look great in the garden.
