This low maintenance shed offers a good amount of storage space for all of those gardening essentials. It comes with impressive, great features that help to really make it stand out from the competition. Considering its low cost, you are getting an absolute bargain with this building.
Like many modern designed sheds, this one comes with an apex roof. Providing terrific protection against rainwater damage, this roof also increases the internal height of the shed. So you can store tall rakes, spades or even fishing poles with ease.
It has a windowless design so you are also guaranteed privacy. It also gives the building a more solid style. Another unique feature is the fact it has a green colour finish. It’s a very slight green colouration, but it still gives the shed a totally different look to the majority of sheds out there.
What we think you’ll like most about this shed however, is the fact you will not need to treat it. This is very rare with overlap buildings. They tend to damage fairly easily and require annual treatments. Shed Store has pressure treated the building to give it a really long lasting design. As annual treatments aren’t required, you will save both time and money; enabling you to simply enjoy the benefits of the shed without the hard work.

Let's Take a Closer Look...
This is a fantastic quality overlap storage shed that has really been constructed to last. However, you do need to keep in mind that the floor of the shed isn’t very strong so whilst it is big enough to be used as a workshop, we wouldn’t recommend it; especially if you have a lot of heavy equipment that would need to be stored in the building. It is an apex style shed too, so it offers more interior height than other roof types.
Ridge height – 7’0
Eaves height – 5’1”
Door height – 5’6”
Door width – 2’2”
Depth (including overhang) – 7’11”
Width (including overhang) – 6’8”
This apex shed is slightly unique due to the eaves height being lower than the door height. It makes the door stand out a little more and also highlights the roof too. Being 7 foot high, the interior height you receive is incredible and makes it great for storing large equipment such as fishing poles and light gym equipment. The depth of the building is also pretty impressive compared to many other sheds. All in all you have plenty of space to store all of your essential gardening tools.
Roof and Floor
As mentioned, the apex roof is one of the main features of this shed. It’s not uncommon as the majority of modern sheds come with an apex style roof. However, it does provide two great benefits. These include exceptional water drainage and a good deal of interior height. You won’t have to worry about banging your head once you’re inside, making it very easy to manoeuvre around. The roof is also covered with a green mineral felt. This complements the very light green colour finish of the building, though in our opinion the quality of this felt could be better. In terms of strength, the roof has been built with 8mm solid sheet material. This is standard on overlap sheds and does provide a surprisingly good strength.
The floor is also constructed with OSB solid sheet material. Unlike the roof however, it measures 10mm thick. This again is pretty standard for overlap buildings, although it does have a knot-free, flat design. Unlike a lot of competitor sheds, this one also comes with integral pressure treated floor joists. So whilst the thickness of the floor is standard, its stability is improved thanks to these high quality joists.
Cladding and Frame
Like so many Shed Store sheds, this one is constructed with 8mm thick overlap. Overlap cladding is given its name due to the way that the panels are nailed over the top of each other. It provides a very raw, natural look that won’t be to everyone’s taste. However, unlike a lot of overlap sheds, the manufacturer has coated this in a light green coloured preservative. It’s very hard to tell from the picture, but you can make out a slight green tint if you look closely enough. You can still see the wood through the colour so what you’re left with is still a very natural, yet stylish look.
Now typically overlap is known to warp pretty easily. That’s why it is often recommended against installing the shed in an area that tends to be exposed to high levels of natural sunlight. However, thanks to the fantastic pressure treatment, this shed won’t warp as easily as untreated buildings. So it doesn’t really matter where you install it.
Pressure treatment is more advanced than a dip treatment. The timber goes through a five step process to ensure it is protected both inside and out. Placed into a cylinder, the air is vacuumed out of the timber before hydraulic pressure forces a high quality preservative deep inside the wood. It is then vacuumed again to ensure that most excess treatment is removed from the cylinder. Finally a low pressure is introduced to encourage the wood to soak any remaining preservative into its surface before being left to dry.
So the quality of the overlap cladding is fantastic and you are guaranteed a longer-lasting finish. The interior of the shed benefits from 28mm x 28mm standard framing. This is a strong frame that will last for years to come.
Treatment Requirements and Warranty
By far one of the main benefits of this shed is the fact it does not need annual treatments. This is an exclusive benefit that many manufacturers do not provide with overlap sheds. The extensive pressure treatment process gives the timber two layers of protection, making it very resistant to all weathers. Through wind, rain and snow, the overlap cladding will withstand whatever the UK weather throws at it. To highlight this, you are given a slightly extended anti-rot warranty of 15 years. So if you’re looking for a shed you do not need to annually maintain, this is definitely a good model to invest in.
Doors and Windows
We’re slightly disappointed by the design of the door. It offers a ledge style, but it doesn’t have any bracing. So if used daily, there’s a chance it could become damaged over time. Whilst there’s nothing stopping you adding your own bracing, this will obviously add to the overall cost of the building and also take up more effort than you’d prefer to spend on assembly. Is it worth doing? We think if you are planning on using the shed a lot, it would be worth strengthening the door. However, it really comes down to personal preference. What is interesting is that the Shed Store have included a hasp and staple with this shed. This is actually pretty impressive as not many overlap sheds come with a hasp and staple included.
With no windows, you’re also benefitting from a very private shed. This makes it more suitable for storing more valuable tools and equipment. It also reduces the likelihood of the shed getting broken into as if the storage cannot be seen, it reduces temptation for potential thieves.
Security and Privacy
The security potential of the shed is pretty good thanks to the hasp and staple installed. However, the fact you will need to supply your own padlock is a little disappointing. The good news is there is a particularly great quality padlock available as an extra. Of course, the windowless design also improves security as whatever you store won’t be seen. So as mentioned above, there will be less temptation for anybody to break in. The lack of windows also means you are guaranteed 100% privacy.
Customisation Options and Extras
Shed Store offers a great selection of extras to choose from with this shed, though not much in terms of customisation. The fact you can change the placement of the windows on the building is a small customisable benefit. Apart from that however, you pretty much get what you see.
Out of all of the extras offered, there are some that we recommend a little more than others. The Wooden DIY Base Kit is a good example. This one measures 8×6 to accommodate the actual size of the shed. It is created from very high quality timber which has been treated to give it a 10 year anti-rot guarantee. What’s unique about this base kit compared to other bases of the same size, is that it comes with wooden spikes which attach the base to the floor. The fact it is wooden is also an advantage. Many base kits are created with plastic. The fact that this is wooden means it will blend in with the rest of the building, creating a more authentic design. Building the shed on top of a solid base is important for its stability. Therefore we do very much recommend you invest in this kit if you don’t have a solid concrete base available.
The second extra we recommend is the Yale Security Kit. Now Shed Store actually have two security extras available. There’s the kit, or you can choose a single security alarm padlock. Whilst the padlock alone is a very high quality security extra, we’d still recommend the kit because it also includes a hasp and alarm. This will ensure the shed has the very best security.
If lighting is something you’re concerned with, the Solar Light comes highly recommended. The windows do offer a good amount of lighting into the shed throughout the day. However, if you plan on using it at night or on darker days, you would benefit from another light source. This solar light requires no wiring and it contains six bright LED bulbs. Using rechargeable batteries, the bulbs are powered by a remote solar panel. So once you’ve bought the light, you won’t have to pay any running costs and it is also better for the environment than an expensive mains powered outdoor building light.
So, How Does It All Stack Up?
Considering this shed is constructed with overlap cladding, it boasts a fantastic quality. This is largely thanks to the pressure treated walls. It also boasts an attractive design which is another unusual trait in an overlap building.
Longevity Of materials9/10
The longevity of this shed is one of the things that truly amazes us. It isn’t a secret that overlap buildings are created with rough-sawn timber that typically needs to be treated annually. However, this shed has been pressure treated which ensures it is weatherproof for up to 15 years. The only thing that stops us giving it 10/10 is the solid sheet floor and fairly sub-standard roofing felt included.
Being a medium size shed, you do have a lot of space available. However, it isn’t possible to add shelves to the walls. However, you can spend a little extra money on storage units if you feel you need a little more space to store your tools and equipment.
Ease of installation8/10
Most people seem to find this shed very easy to put up. However, it will depend upon how good you are at DIY. The instructions supplied are simple enough, but due to its size it will take around 3-5 hours to put together. Shed Store claim it will take 2-3 hours but we feel 3-5 is more realistic.
Value for money9/10
Compared to other similar size storage sheds, this comes at a very low cost. It also has quite a few great features which add to its value for money. There’s also the extremely impressive benefit that you do not need to treat the shed annually thanks to its prior pressure treatment.
Final Thoughts: This is one of our favourite budget sheds we’ve reviewed for the Shed Store. It has so many distinguishing features that make it really stand out from its competition. From the stylish light green finish to the high quality timber used; it provides exceptional value for money and the 15 year anti rot guarantee gives you great reassurance. The only thing to be aware of is that the solid sheet floor may be a little too weak to hold larger, bulkier items. It is disappointing Shed Store don’t offer an upgrade, but even with this in mind, we feel this is one of the best buildings in the collection.
