Shed Type And Roof Size
We have been very impressed with this line of sheds from Treetops Traditional and here is another fantastic addition to this range. Here we have a cabin style shed that has just a truly amazing design that would make it something which would look great anywhere it is placed. Inside the shed, you will be amazed at just how much room there is, especially when you consider this does not need a huge garden to be installed in. With 8 feet of depth and 6 feet of width there is a very decent amount of storage space inside of here. To make being in the shed comfortable there is 7 feet 1 inch of headroom along the ridge. Even at the eaves there is 5 feet 6 inches of height which we feel is great considering this is the lowest part of the shed.
The roof is so well crafted and designed that after a while you forget it is there as it does its job so well. The apex roof will give you plenty of protection from bad weather as it is made from high quality 12 mm tongue and groove boarding and then covered with some very heavy duty roofing felt to protect those boards.
Cladding, Frame And Floor
We really do love the style of the shed and the cladding which has been used is here to offer you a very waterproof structure as well as being very easy on the eyes. The cladding is 12 mm tongue and groove shiplap cladding and we really do think this is one of the best styles you can get when it comes to offering protection as there literally is no way for water to get in through it.
The cladding is supported with a 33 mm x 27 mm frame to make this one of the most robust sheds we have seen in quite some time. This is one very solid frame and because of how thick it is along with the redwood it is made from, you will find this shed will never lose its sturdiness. Interestingly despite this already being one very strong and sturdy frame, Treetops Traditional do offer you the upgrade option of a heavy duty frame.
To allow you to store anything you would like inside of here there is a very solid floor. Just like the roof 12 mm redwood, tongue and groove boarding is used. This gives you one very solid and secure surface which feels great under your feet and not bouncy like other shed floors have a tendency to feel. We have no doubt that this floor is going to serve you very well and be more than happy to take whatever you can put on top of it.
Treatment Requirement And Warranty
All the wood will be dip treated before the shed is sent to you. This will give the shed a good basecoat treatment and make sure that the wood is well protected during delivery and during installation. However this kind of treatment is just for the short term and you will want to treat it yourself within a couple of weeks of construction. Yearly treatment is required to make sure the wood is looked after properly.
You will be given a one year manufacturer’s warranty with the shed to protect you against any issues the materials may have during that first year.
Doors And Windows
Getting in and out of the 8′ x 6′ Traditional 6′ Cabin Shed is nice and easy thanks to the 5 feet 9 inches high and 2 feet 6 inches wide door. For a single door shed this is actually a very good sized door. There is a easy to use door handle on here and to keep the door where it is supposed to be, we have three very strong hinges.
To let in a lot of natural light there are four, horticultural glass windows. These are some of the highest quality windows we have seen and as well as feeling strong, they also look much better than cheaper plastic style windows that other sheds seem to like to use these days. These are fixed windows, but for £31.99, you can actually have it so one of the windows can be opened. If you do plan on spending a considerable amount of time inside the shed then this is something worth thinking about.
Security And Privacy
We are pretty used to sheds these days coming with no way to lock them and you having to buy a padlock. Well we were very surprised that this shed actually comes with a proper lock and key to help keep your items safe and sound. A pad bolt and padlock could be easily added, but with how good the lock is on here, we do not think there is any need.
The windows are of a large size so they do make it very easy to look inside. If this is a concern of yours then blinds or curtains could be easily added. If that is not enough privacy for you then you can actually arrange for the shed to have no windows at all and this will not cost you any extra.
Customisation Options And Extras
Give the shed a little bit of your own personality by using coloured wood treatment. You get coloured wood treatment in all kinds of colours from brown, red all the way to green and blue.
As well as the heavy duty frame and the opening windows, you can also add some wooden floor bearers as an extra. These are £34.99 and will give the shed more stability if you are going to be placing it on grass or another surface that is not all that strong. Another extra that you may be interested in is a veranda which you can arrange to have included if you want to make this look more like a cabin than a shed.
We are very pleased with the overall quality of the shed. The best materials have been used to give the whole shed a look a feel which just screams top quality.
Longevity Of materials 8.5/10
While you will have to give the shed a little bit of care by treating it once a year. By doing so, you will be making this shed last you for many years.
While this certainly is not the largest shed we have ever looked at, 8 x 6 is still a very good size and for the average person or family this is going to be plenty of storage space for you to use.
Ease of installation 8.5/10
From the picture this may look like it would be complicated to build, but actually you and a friend will have this up in a few hours. The construction is fairly straight forward and should not really cause you any stress.
We will be honest and say we have seen larger sheds for cheaper, but they are not as well made and they will not give you the 20 years plus of service that you are going to get with this.
Final Thoughts: Solve all of your storage problems such as where to keep your tools so they do not rust in the rain and where to keep the kids bikes instead of on the path right outside the front door with the fantastic, 8' x 6' Traditional 6' Cabin Shed. We love how despite its compact exterior, inside there is plenty of space which you can really make the best of if you think about how you are going to lay things out. We are sure that for families and even for a person looking for a space to work in that this would be a very smart purchase.
