Shed Type And Roof Size
With its clever compact design and the fact that it is comprised of strong redwood, the 8′ x 6′ Traditional Heavy Pent Shed, we feel really is giving you a lot of quality for your money. This is the type of shed where you will have to be a little bit more crafty with how you store things, but your tools, bikes and things kids like to leave on the lawn will be safe and sound inside here. The 8 feet of depth and 6 feet of width is the kind of storage space that would work well for an averaged sized garden looking to protect a few items. One thing that you cannot really tell from the photos is just how much headroom this has and it is quite impressive. At the back of the shed there is 5 feet 9 inches of height which is the lowest part. At its highest there is right around 6 feet 6 inches of height and then at the front which is the highest we have right around 6 feet of headroom.
The pent roof on here has a very nice look to it with its slope to ensure water is going to just always run off to that lovely little decoration they have on the front of it. While we really do like the look of it, under that impressive protective felt, Treetops Traditional have used 12 mm tongue and groove boards. These are strong and long lasting boards that are going to serve you very well.
Cladding, Frame And Floor
The 12 mm tongue and groove shiplap cladding really does have this smooth and sleek look to it that we are sure you are going to love and most probably love running your hand over it. While the cladding of course has been chosen so that no rain can get inside, you do kind of ignore just how practical the cladding is because of how nice it looks. We are sure this is going to be a structure you are very pleased to have as part of your garden.
We feel that the best sheds are the ones that are all pretty and attractive on the outside and then all rough, tough and strictly business on the inside. That really is the best way we can think to describe this shed as the frame behind the cladding is a robust, round edged, 44 mm x 44 mm frame that keeps this solid and secure and trust us when we say, it will really impress you with how strong it is.
In keeping with the heavy duty and strong theme of the shed, Treetops Traditional have used those same strong 12 mm tongue and groove boards that make the pent roof for the flooring. We are actually very pleased with this as they are strong boards and can take just an incredible amount of weight.
Treatment Requirement And Warranty
The shed will require treatment shortly after construction and also on a yearly basis. One cool thing is that Treetops Traditional will give all the wood a basecoat treatment which will protect it during deliver and while you are building it, but please remember this is not a long term form of protection.
A one year guarantee is provided with all Treetops Traditional sheds and that we feel is a fair guarantee which hopefully you will never have to use.
Doors And Windows
The way the shed looks in the picture is the default way to have the door and we do think it looks great. The door is 2 feet 6 inches wide, which we feel should be more than wide enough to get most things inside. But if you do need a little more room then you can get a double door installed that is around 4 feet wide at a cost of, £53.99. Please note though that if you do this it may have an effect on the amount of windows you can have. The door is held in place with some very high quality hinges and even has a lock and door knob. If you want to go a little fancy then you can request a stable style door is used instead of the one pictured.
As you can see from the picture, in the standard design there are three lovely horticultural glass windows on the front of the shed with two being fixed and one that can be opened. There is an option to have the other windows be able to be opened for £31.99 per window.
Security And Privacy
With there being a lock and key on the door, you can keep the 8′ x 6′ Traditional Heavy Pent Shed locked up very well and at no extra expense. Also because of the thick redwood used to make the shed it does have a very secure and robust feel.
Those awesome windows really do not allow for a whole lot of privacy, but you can ask for there to be no windows at all if you want to make it so no one can look inside. Of course you could just add a set of curtains, blinds or something else to cover them up a little bit.
Customisation Options And Extras
We touched on the different doors you could have with this shed just before, but actually there are five different places where the door can go on the shed. This though would result in you having to possible move one of the windows to another location, but still it is pretty neat how you have this kind of creative choice when constructing the shed.
There are a couple of extras that may interest you and let’s start with the installation service. This does cost £99.99, but if you do not want to build it yourself or are not too sure you could do it properly then this is something to consider. The other extra that Treetops Traditional offer is a set of wooden floor bearers which will give the floor some extra support and to be honest at £34.99 they are quite fairly priced.
The tongue and groove shiplap cladding, frame, roof and floor are very well made and the overall quality of the whole shed is something that we really are very impressed with.
Longevity Of materials
The robust design of the shed means that as long as you do treat it and look after it right. You will find that the shed will be with you for a long time and really show very little signs of aging.
If this shed had just a little more in the width department we think it would be just perfect, but this is a small shed and will require a little brain work on your part to make things fit just right.
Ease of installation
A friend or family member will be needed to help you, but we find as long as there is fresh coffee and chocolate digestives on offer that is an easy thing to organise. Seriously though this should not take you any more than 4 hours and while not easy, following the instructions and taking your time will get you through it.
Again if this was just a little bigger in the width department then we would have probably scored it at an 8 or possibly even 8.5. But still we do feel for those of you with a smaller garden this is a shed that does offer good value for money.
Final Thoughts: We really do love the charming design of the 8' x 6' Traditional Heavy Pent Shed and feel that this is the type of shed for people who want something that as well as offering storage space also offers you something you actually like to look at. The shed may seem a little bit pricy considering the size of it, but we do think that as the shed is made with such high quality materials it is still worth the price. While those of you who need a serious amount of storage space should perhaps look elsewhere. If you do not need a huge structure taking up most of your garden and you just want a well made, long lasting and fantastic looking place to store your items then this is well worth a closer look.
