Shed type and roof and size
This is an entry level price shed that comes in an apex style with the roof. The apex style allows more headroom as well as some rain protection. The size of the building is 208 cm for the width (falling to 205.2 cm internally) and 172 cm in depth (falling to 152.1 cm internally).
The apex roof has been made using solid sheet materials. These are capable of providing considerable protection, and that is enhanced by the sand felt roof covering.
Cladding and frame and floor
The cladding is rustic overlap. These are sheets of timber overlapped to provide some protection against rainwater. They are durable, but really only provide all year round protection once they have been treated.
Part of the customisation of the unit comes in with the flooring. There are a few options here, from no flooring to full tongue and groove. We recommend the tongue and groove, simply because this allows you to have a stronger and more robust floor. It will simply last longer.
Treatment requirement and warranty
There is a factory treatment (red cedarwood based) applied. This takes away the need to treat it every year, and also cuts cost and time. This is a real benefit and is not necessarily applied to larger buildings. For this price it’s a really attractive aspect.
Doors and windows
Some real value is to be had here. Two fixed windows are supplied with the building. They are of a good size, and ensure that the interior gets a good amount of light. On top of this, and to add even more value, they are created using styrene. Styrene glazing is of the highest quality, and is actually stronger than even toughened glass. It s also shatterproof so security is enhanced with it.
Security and privacy
That styrene glazing goes a long way to making the building extra secure. On top of this you also get a supplied turn button so you have extra safety and security.
Customisation options
You get to choose shelving if you want it. This shed is made for utility purposes, and having shelving makes sense. But the options are excellent, and you can easily arrange to have up to 4ft of shelving for an extremely attractive price.
If you are so inclined, you can also purchase tubs of colour for your building. The colours are meant to be used on the trim and the walls, and there are some excellent combinations. You would use this if you wanted to make your building unique, and the options are also very cost effective. A combination of two shouldn’t set you back more than £20.
Finally, you can also choose a padlock and a padlock protector too. This is great if you are storing some exceptionally high value items or even if you just want some basic security on top of the turn button and that great styrene glazing.
Quality of construction 10/10 Longevity of material 8/10 Final Thoughts: This is a basic shed, and you can't get away from that. The extra costs come in the form of customisation, but it was pleasing to see that these are not expensive. There are some good aspects, including the fact that it is pre-treated. We recommend this for a great storage option, with the options to make it even more secure.
