Let's Take a Closer Look...
Shed type and roof and size
This is a useful metal storage shed that has an apex roof. It measures up at 6 x 4, and internally there is hardly any give so you do gain an equivalent amount of storage. The building comes complete with an entry and exit ramp across the width of the door opening.
In practical terms, you get a width of 201.4 cm, both externally and internally. And when it comes to the depth of the unit, you are looking at 122.8 cm. A respectable size for this price, it allows you to easily store the vast majority of tools you would find in the garden, and the height is 189.2 cm, which should give you an indication of how comfortable it is with storing taller tools like rakes etc.
The shed is windowless, which instantly makes it a security shed, one where you can happily store your expensive and valuable items without having to worry about them being visible. This gives it an extra level of value.
You don’t have to limit yourself to storing tools either. The she dis big enough to store bikes. We felt the size of the unit and the windowless aspect made it perfect for this purpose, and that the utility aspect is excellent for the price.
The roof has plenty of good news too. It has been made using galvanised steel. This is strong stuff, but it also serves a very important purpose alongside being tough. The steel has been galvanised so that it is literally resistant to rainwater. There is a level of zinc on top of that covering that stops water from entering. So when you store those bikes, you have absolute peace of mind. It’s 100% rust proof. The building keeps it’s looks and integrity, and your items are safe from water and rust.
Cladding and frame and floor
The galvanised steel does a lot of hard work when it comes to protection, but around the building there is also a wood grain finish that, apart from the aesthetically pleasing aspect of being able to ‘mimic’ a wooden building, also offers even more protection against the rain.
The wall panels are also ribbed. This gives the building plenty more strength too. We felt this was an excellent aspect, and one that is definitely a bonus when you consider the low price tag on the product.
There is no floor supplied. Many people happily do without a floor for a building of this kind. However, that does not ignore the fact that the building does have ot be erected on a solid surface. To accommodate this, the manufacturers have offered two options in foundation kits.
The first choice is a tongue and groove wooden floor or foundation. This is easy to fit and gives you that tough tongue and groove base for the unit. If you want to take it one step further, you’re looking at the steel foundation grid option. If you’re up to the task, lay the steel grid down and fill it with cement. This literally gives you a foundation for your building.
Treatment requirement and warranty
The galvanised steel does wonders for this building. Water resistant and as tough as you would need it to be, it adds a lot of value, and is a huge contributing factor to the 15 year warranty that comes with the building.
Doors and windows
No windows obviously, due to it being a security shed, but you do get an excellent set of double doors. A metal track runs across the opening, and you simply slide the doors across this to gain access.
Security and privacy
There is an option to fit a padlock (not supplied) to bring extra security. So you therefore have a windowless shed with a padlock too. This makes it a very secure building.
We liked the flooring options. Having the option to fit a steel frame makes sense to us, and this is a real customisation option that actually presents with value.
So, How Does It All Stack Up?
Ease of assembly
Quality of construction
Longevity of material
Final Thoughts: This unit is tremendous value for money. You get a great little security shed that can easily handle a number of tools as well as bikes. It’s rock solid against the rain too.
For the price, there is plenty of value here. It does a very good job of storing tools and other items, and we liked the fact that you could add even more stability with that steel frame.
