This is a great-looking wooden shed that has a lot of functionality and practicality. One of the key features of the shed is the extra large front door. This is a great aspect, because it has a direct impact upon your access to the building. There is some great tongue and groove shiplap cladding in the building and an excellent and spacious interior. Compact but still welcoming, it is an obvious addition to the smaller garden, or the larger one that needs a small workshop or storage area.

Shire Shiplap Pent Roof wooden shed 8 x 6 – Our first thoughts
This is a great little shed, and one of the best things about the building is that pent roof. The roof allows for a little more rainwater protection than you would expect on a shed of this size. The water simply runs off quickly, and is therefore not a problem.
The shiplap cladding is very attractive and is actually 12 mm thick, so you get plenty of exterior surface protection against rainwater. The shiplap works well to bring about a dry and safe interior.
Shire Shiplap Pent Roof wooden shed 8 x 6 – Some questions you may have
Is there a guarantee?
There is a 10 year manufacturer’s guarantee against damp and rot, and this is a very reassuring aspect of the building. Part of the work behind this is that shipap cladding, which has a lip in between panels, and prevents rainwater from being a problem. Add to that the pent roof and it’s impact and effectiveness against rainwater and you have a very dry and safe building.
How about a basecoat?
There is a basecoat included and this gives you a strong level of protection for the beginning of the life of the unit. You will have to add your own treatment annually after purchase, but it’s a great start, and adds to the value.
Windows?
Two glass window are included as standard. They are fixed, but they do give a great amount of light to the interior.
Can I build it myself?
We recommend two people put this together. It is a heavy unit and the work can be quite labour intensive. Good tools and a second person are the right combination.
Locking mechanism = A hasp & staple door closure is included to keep your possessions secure
Shire Shiplap Pent Roof wooden shed 8 x 6: So what’s the quality like?s
There is a lot to celebrate here. The shiplap goes a long way to keeping the shed secure for the years ahead. We would have preferred to have a little more than a basecoat on the shed for that price but we still think it’s a worthy coat to have as part of that initial treatment.
If you’re putting it together with a friend, be careful with the windows. they are a little fiddly to put in, we found.
Shire Shiplap Pent Roof wooden shed 8 x 6: Our final thoughts
It is a reasonable quality shed for the price. And when you look at it, it has great looks and that door is a bonus when it comes to access. We would have liked a little more thought being put into the treatment, but overall its functional, attractive and useful.
I purchased this shed a few months back when it was first offered, after which it was bombarded with a barrage of negative feedback. I chose it simply because it stood out from traditional wooden sheds, with its racy color scheme and house-like feel. But that’s not the only reason why I bought it; I also needed a place to store my gardening tools and machinery. Here’s how it has worked out for me so far:
Ease of assembly and maintenance: This isn’t the shed’s strong point, as positioning and affixing the window glass isn’t a day’s work. The thick log requires some heavy lifters, and I would recommend getting a friend to help you out. Even after the assembling is done, time to time maintenance is necessary to check for any signs of rotting or seeping.
Affordability, quality and storage size: While most people complain that the wood used in the kit is of low quality, I beg to differ. Over the past 6 months, there were no signs of creaking or shoddy workmanship, even after a rainstorm. The shed isn’t as affordable as others, but when you consider the extra features that this one boasts (windows, reinforced paneling), it makes sense. I’d give it a 9/10 overall.
