Shed Type and Roof and Size
This is a log store that enables you to take better care of all your logs all year round. Having a wood burning stove, for example, means a constant supply of fresh and dry alogs, and this store helps in this regard.
The width is 179 cm and the depth is 69 cm. Due to the nature of the construction of the unit there is no corresponding internal loss on measurements here.
The roof material is waney edge. This is the least expensive material you could have in an outdoor building and it is often used for low cost cladding. We were a little surprised to see this here because we know that logs need to be looked after, and having a store can be good if the roof is of a good quality. At least it gives it a nicely rustic appeal. But is it a good choice for a roof? We question whether it would be a good idea to have a stronger focus on ventilation elsewhere.
You also get a rather smart kindling shelf at the top of the unit, which we feel adds that little bit extra in value.
Cladding and frame and floor
The cladding is again a little unusual in that it uses strong square edge boards. These are indeed strong but ‘cladding’ is perhaps a little misleading. The point of the sides of the unit is to bring in as much air as possible, and the square edge helps here by giving a good slatted exterior.
That boarding is included in the floor too, so you have even more ventilation for the logs throughout the year. It is good quality stuff, and it means that you have plenty of air, which keeps those logs dry in the summer, and able to breath throughout the rest of the year.
Treatment requirement and warranty
Quality is built in here with a factory treatment that is pre-applied. This means you get the quality of a good treatment by the manufacturer and you don’t have to worry about treating it yourself manually.
Doors and windows
Security and privacy
No locking system is required due to it being an open log store.
The roof annoys us a little, because we thought it would be the first line of defence against rain, which logs need. The air comes from the sides and floor. In any case, the rest of the unit is perfect value for money.
Longevity Of Materials 7/10
The panels seem thick enough, and we can see how the slatting helps the log storage aspect. The precoating adds plenty of longevity.
Plenty of room for your logs here, and we can't see anyone wanting any more, no matter how big their burner is.
Ease Of Installation 7/10
It is very easy to install, and you can do it yourself. Instructions are clear, and you should have this ready within an hour.
As a log store, it does it's job perfectly. But we would have liked to see a little more care in the roof. The kindling shelf is a nice touch.
Final Thoughts: Roof issues aside, this is a very high quality log store for the price. Some real value to be had here, especially in the slatting work.
Prices around: £179
